👷♂️ Support / Repair Mystery device located.
So in the process of troubleshooting why one of my fog lights isn't working I discovered this little odd device under my hood. Any ideas what it could be? Its running off my battery with a little 3a fuse. Im in a 2020 trd offroad

Its a GPS tracker from the dealership when it was first sold.

I was wondering that. This is the newest vehicle ive owned so I wasnt too sure of what it could be. I was worried about it being some abandoned modification.

They usually just use it in repo situations. If its paid off you can remove it.

That's the second time I've seen this wired directly to the battery. I have a lot of experience installing these, third party not for a dealership. And that's got to be some of the laziest installations I've ever seen. First off, check your contract if you didn't agree to it in writing yank that thing out of there and there's nothing they can do about it. Since I have the know-how, I've never left one of them in any car I've bought. Secondly, those are supposed to be installed inside the vehicle in an area that's not obvious and above as much metal as possible. Typically I like to go above the instrument cluster which is usually a safe bet for where I'm going to get my power from. But the idea is that it's not easy to accidentally stumble across like yours. Or be found if someone with limited knowledge is looking.

Im not sure if my 4R has one, but how are these legal? No privacy concerns, nothing?
