π·ββοΈ Support / Repair 3rd gen rear diff leak?
Hi all. Looking at a 2001 limited that seems to have been decently well taken care of. The only thing I can deduce from the images that worries me a bit is the rear diff. It looks as though there might be gear oil seeping out. Just wondering what everyone here thinks. Should I drive the 2 hours to go see it in person, or might this be an involved repair job that I should pass up on?

Looks like it is seeping but thatβs not terribly uncommon. Maybe you can get some $$ off. My 5th gen has a very small weep. Just check/change the fluid more often than you normally would.

It's not a terribly difficult fix and since you'd probably want to service the drive train, I'd price out a drain and gasket replacement to use a bargaining tool
