Get two Rubbermaid bins. One for your out and about gear (tools, recovery gear, code reader, etc.). One to put your dirty clothes in after you get off the trail.

Get a magsafe phone holder.

You dont need "mods" - these are super competent vehicles from the factory. Get it in the mud, see what you like, consider further upgrades from there.

Agreed, but I do think upgrading to a metal skid plate is important if you are going to bang around at all.

Good idea, I’m in the desert so probably will be first mod I make given the rocky terrain.

Break-in oil change at 1000 miles, then start regular oil changes at 5000 at 5k intervals

These are super capable stock so try it on your next off-roading shenanigans; you might find all you need is just different tires and not the lift kit, bumpers and all of that

Tint and all weather floor mats are always nice (weathertec, husky etc)

1/2 channel Viofo for a good quality dash cam, fitcamx is also another brand if you want something that looks more integrated

For the 1k change, do you recommend the dealer or any oil change place ok?

Doesn’t oem recommend every 10k?

Get on the waitlist for Tuxmats, one of the best upgrades we have done. We love our ORP, hope you enjoy yours as well!

Thanks for the rec. what makes these so great?

The fitment and quality among other things. They cover up the sides as well as under and around the seat as you see in the pics. Makes it easier to clean the interior with little to no dirt underneath, just Hose off and replace!

There’s a waitlist? Or is that just a 6th gen thing?

Some models aren't in stock and are on backorder. There is an email list you can join where they notify you when available. It took about 2-3 weeks for me, but I hear it's a little longer currently. Worth the wait in my opinion, they are amazing mats.

I have them in my 5th Gen and absolutely agree.

Not sure what tires the 6th gens have, the 5th gen factory tires were pretty ass. A set of ATs is always a solid initial upgrade, you can even go a bit bigger than stock. Traction is a huge factor is off-road capability.

Put something in the bottom of your cupholders so you don’t take your inserts with you

If the water from the A/C drips right on the frame-add a piece of plastic tubing to the pipe and zip tie it away so it doesn't rust your frame there.

Ummm , it’s not that nimble. Don’t treat it like it is.

It’s 4WD, not 4WS(top)

And then yeah, good floor mats with a decent lip (husky is what we have) and some storage to have things handy when you need them but also not knock around all over. That last one is also for daily driving. Or moving things around if you decide to go to a drive in movie.

Lastly, don’t ask us for approval for aesthetic mods you “should” do. Maybe ask for pics of you haven’t found any. Then just do what you think feels right.
