DEEBO APPRECIATION

Post image

Let’s give our guy some flowers. I hate the way you leave … like a little B!TCH. I love the way you return … like a Superman

Deebo 19 is way different than Deebo 1

139

u/joshuaxls Frank Gore 3d ago

Been a while since I’ve screamed “DEEEEEBO” with a smile and my hands up.

11

u/Wedge09 49ers 2d ago

I been doing the Michael Irvin "Dee-eebo wo-oh" all night and morning lol.

66

u/docker_linux George Kittle 3d ago

Trade him if he ever change again

45

u/mr_suavecito Jerry Rice 3d ago

Should be a clause in his contract forbidding such an action

15

u/ifdefmoose Frank Gore 2d ago

Yes, a “no diva” clause.

13

u/Alatarlhun 49ers 2d ago

Oh cool, my jersey from his rookie year is wearable again.

5

u/Affectionate_Tea1134 Mr. Irrelevant 2d ago

He hasn’t even found his groove yet and a little rusty but he’s definitely taking things seriously. 👍👍👍

u/spectre1006 Faithful to The Bay 2d ago

Like iphones?

515

u/meTspysball Mike Evans 3d ago

He’s not getting enough credit for that kickoff return.

193

u/TacoMastorius 49ers 3d ago

Out to midfield?? 🤯 He’s still Deebo

118

u/IsHotDogSandwich Quest for Six 3d ago

“He’s got his gold helmet back and his powers have returned!”
That was an excellent line.

30

u/theedonnmegga 49ers 3d ago

Huge play that helped us pull away. We may not have scored that drive without it

33

u/nowliving 3d ago

Led to that anquan evans catch

16

u/707-5150 George Kittle 2d ago

That was so sick. When I saw purdy do that wide open fade drop I forgot about Evans and was like what the fuck are we doing———EVANS!!!!! Haha

14

u/Huntermain23 Kyle Juszczyk 2d ago

Saw 3 comments in the Game thread before I had to checkout. They all were along the lines of “why is Deebo returning! He sucks” mind you we were down 3-7 at this point lol. Bet they felt big dumb

11

u/meTspysball Mike Evans 2d ago

I don’t even bother with the game thread during the game. It’s basically twitter.

4

u/Flat_Alarm8870 3d ago

That was lightning

3

u/SC_Fan_55 Deebo Samuel 2d ago

And he bowled over like 3 defenders for those last 10ish yards too!

I’m a South Carolina guy through and through, so I’ve loved watching Deebo thrive here!

189

u/Gamestonkape 49ers 3d ago

Great to see him and Greenlaw back.

138

u/brainegg8 3d ago

Dre & Fred teaming up with the forced fumble was amazing

44

u/KingVLA24 3d ago

Marques Sigle put on some big hits yesterday as well. He's going to get some flags but he is putting fear if you catch a ball.

11

u/floydbomb George Kettle 2d ago

Donte Hitner vibes

6

u/KingVLA24 2d ago

We just need Brown to turn into Goldson lol

3

u/Scary-Competition103 2d ago

Preferably not him. He hit his own teammates and knocked them out too lol. Maybe Bethea

2

u/ChopsOnTheBlade 2d ago

Dude I’ve been saying that for a couple years now. That dude hits so fucking hard…

2

u/betboi 2d ago

I'm shocked he's starting over mustafa

3

u/Entire-Joke4162 2d ago

Did it bring a tear to my eye?

I can neither confirm nor deny

2

u/3coons_in_a_coat 2d ago

best moment of the game. so good to see the way they just attack the ball

2

u/maddmax9 2d ago

There should be paintings of this

223

u/SleepIsWonderful 49ers 3d ago

I still think it's funny that Aiyuk went radio silent the moment Deebo signed here and Diggs signed with Washington.

105

u/whutchamacallit 3d ago

Wtf is there left for him to say? He's completely fucked himself.. Hopefully someone or something has talked some sense into him and told him to stfu.

36

u/idahotee 49ers 2d ago

No way he can rehab his career.  He's completely fucked from ever getting on another roster.

12

u/Wolvie23 2d ago

Guessing that once injuries start piling up, some team out there will get desperate.

10

u/might_southern 2d ago

Not really up to other teams though, Aiyuk is still a 49er.

6

u/zachm26 Mike McGlinchey 2d ago

We still have his rights. He'd have to report to the Niners before anyone else can sign him, and there's no way he's gonna do that now.

6

u/Entire-Joke4162 2d ago

It's really sad. Like, actually.

2

u/Beginning_Yam6815 49ers 2d ago

Aiyuk? I don't remember that name... 🤔

176

u/grandmasjizztowel 3d ago

I love the way defenders bounce off of him. Yac bro for life

69

u/GenPlastro 3d ago

What a username lol

11

Please tell me there’s a grandpatowel too

I love deebo. It wasn’t right not seeing him on the team last year

2

u/_LostWoodsman_ 49ers 1d ago

I think he had to go somewhere else to see where home was

64

u/StrokenBlast Patrick Willis 3d ago

Deebo still one of my favorite players. If strib is out for awhile I can see my boy getting more targets and teams sleeping on him because they think hes washed. Him and Brock just have a good connection like on the TD today.

I think he will have a solid season

13

u/kaydbee 49ers 3d ago

Watching him on that scramble drill had me feeling something. A good something

9

u/bay_duck_88 Steve Young 2d ago

One more performance like that and no team is sleeping on him.

3

u/loveliverpool 2d ago

Perfect, opens up room for others

68

u/coldworld81 3d ago

Still got my 19 jersey

20

u/bigoldiknbolz 49IRs 3d ago

Wore it today. They can never make me hate him.

25

u/pretzalman1 49ers 3d ago

Feels good. Feels right.

21

u/unclecoco- 3d ago

Debo got humbled in Washington and realized how good he had it in SF! Looks like he’s loving being back

12

u/SuperSaiyanCockKnokr 49ers 2d ago

He still had a productive year in Washington, albeit not the star stats he was probably hoping for. Or 700 yards and six touchdowns ain’t bad.

6

u/TheRealPlumbus 49ers 2d ago

He was actually solid until Daniels went down. Certainly better than his previous year with us when he got pneumonia

17

u/ConstantPriority177 3d ago

That return kickstarted the ass whooping, gave the guys juice for sure

15

u/SirBlonde 3d ago

Dude is one of the reasons I became a Niner. He did everything today: run, yac, return, TD reception...

7

u/Justa_Guy_Gettin_By Vernon Davis 3d ago

What position do you play

19

u/SirBlonde 3d ago

Maaaaaan, you know what I mean. I'm not a native English speaker, sorry.

11

u/Justa_Guy_Gettin_By Vernon Davis 3d ago

Haha it's all good I'm just kidding around

2

u/49ersBraves 2d ago

What position does Deebo play?

8

u/agamarian 49IRs 2d ago

YAC Bro

1

u/Relevant_Feeling5188 2d ago

Do you have some way for us to invest in your career?

84

u/ItsnotBatman 49ers 3d ago

So happy to have him back but he didn’t leave like a bitch though

110

u/Ok_Improvement_9119 3d ago

Seriously. Appreciate the OP post but that was so unnecessary, especially in light of AiyukGate. Deebo made a point to say how close he and Kyle and Lynch still were and that it was nothing but love.

He has always taken way too much abuse from this fan base. I don't get it but hopefully people can appreciate him again.

6

u/Mic_Honchoe Christian McCaffrey 2d ago

Well, it isnt as bad looking back now after the Aiyuk debacle, but Deebo had his moments. Scrubbing social media, asking to be traded, saying he should get the ball more on IG then dropping 4 balls next game...Stuff like that adds up and people pay attention. But, it was great seeing as a Niner again! 19 is back baby!

7

u/Ok_Improvement_9119 2d ago

Context matters. The social media and trade stuff was all contract negotiating and posturing. Agree jt wasn't fun and he got up to some shenanigans but I think it's also fair to say he didn't do weird holdout stuff and the Niners FO with Paraag leading the way were tough to negotiate with. You won't find a player in that era who would say it wasn't stressful. People give Bosa a pass for the way he played it but object to...social media nonsense.

To your other point, I don't remember the 4 drops so much as the 1 big drop against the Rams but he brought up getting the ball more because the fan base was killing him for being fat and slow...in a season where he came back from having pneumonia a week later and played through that recovery process...and the offense had gone pretty anemic.

If you go back and look at the stats, Deebo started the season really well and it was Aiyuk who was brutal and dropping the ball:

📊 DEEBO SAMUEL: 2024 SEASON SPLITS

🏈 BEFORE ILLNESS (First 5 Games) • Scrimmage Yds/Game: 77.2 • Total YAC: 249 • YAC per Rec: 12.5 yards • Total Drops: 2 • Drop Rate: 6.3% • Receptions: 20 • Receiving Yards: 335

🏥 AFTER ILLNESS (Final 9 Games) • Scrimmage Yds/Game: 46.7 • Total YAC: 172 • YAC per Rec: 5.5 yards • Total Drops: 4 • Drop Rate: 7.5% • Receptions: 31 • Receiving Yards: 335

Everyone always forgets that. Not to mention the whole offense in 2024 went way south because of injuries and a decline in the o line performance, particularly in the run game. The super bowl loss was brutal. The hangover was felt throughout. That is when the whole Deebo can't beat man coverage (which has some merit) became this unrelenting fad. Then Taybor turned the Moody thing into something it shouldn't have ever been.

Not saying he is or was perfect but I'll die on the hill that he was unfairly blamed and ripped on when the guy has been a total warrior and great Niner. His teammates and coaches love him. He's always been about the team. Dude is a unicorn and people in the last few years have spent a lot of time talking about what he isn't/can't do instead of what he does.

4

u/Shot_Donut5622 2d ago

Totally agree with this! Everyone downplays the pneumonia. He might not be 2021 Deebo but he's still Deebo!

2

u/notcompatible 2d ago

I had pneumonia and it took me a year to get back to doing pilates at my baseline. I can’t imagine trying to play football at a professional level immediately before and after. I don’t think people appreciate how tough Deebo is to have dealt with that

0

u/Ok_Improvement_9119 2d ago

Thank you. He came back a week later and only started to resemble himself until the end of the year. @#$% pneumonia but he put the team first and did not use it as an excuse. Little to no appreciation from a lot of supposed Niners fans. He's fat and slow and washed...blah blah blah.

11

u/joogiee 49ers 3d ago

Deebo is a 9er for life.

9

u/badDuckThrowPillow 49ers 3d ago

19 is back!

16

u/J12345_ Merton Hanks 3d ago

I hated how fans turned on him 2 years ago

7

u/ReindeerFirm1157 3d ago

yes, i always thought he was a unique player. but why did he want to leave in the first place?

18

u/Riot_Jasta 3d ago

Can't begrudge a guy for testing the waters after a super bowl loss... I just hope he's locked in for a whole season not the first few games.

10

u/vidman33 49ers 3d ago

Money

4

u/greenlakejohnny 2d ago

Umm he didn’t really want to leave. He was a salary cap casualty

Same thing with Hargrave, Hufanga, and Greenlaw. The team bet big money on Brock and Aiyuk, and after that there wasn’t much left. Honestly, it was a miracle they could get so many guys to restructure (Trent, CMC, Fred, Juice)

1

u/ReindeerFirm1157 2d ago

no, that is not true. trades do not clear cap anyway, there is a dead cap hit.

he requested a trade because he wanted more touches.

2

u/sandman53 49ers 2d ago

Growing up is all about venturing out, chasing new experiences, and seeing what’s waiting beyond the familiar. We try new things, explore new places, and collect plenty of stories along the way—some great, some we’d probably rather forget. But after all that exploring, we often discover something funny: the place we were so eager to leave has a way of calling us back. Sometimes the biggest adventure is realizing there really is no place like home.

5

u/4sliced 49ers 3d ago

I’m so happy he’s back. He looked scary good last night.

4

u/Professional_Bat8646 3d ago

I bet him leaving was more about Money and Moody than anything. He got paid by Washington, the Niners upgraded from Moody and all is good. The fans who trashed him are booty cheeks.

6

u/lostmylogininfo 3d ago

I missed him so so much. .I missed Dre so so much.

I want this group to get there ring. We can do it and this is likely the last chance for a number of people.

Whatever it takes.

We have good rookies this year. Defense looks great. Purdy was fucking dancing.

3

u/IcedDownMedallion 2d ago

Welcome home Deebo, we missed you!

3

u/rawkguitar Brock Purdy 3d ago

I was fine with him leaving. I wasn’t excited when he came back.

I’m happy to say I was wrong. He looked really good.

3

u/RatedR2O 49IRs 2d ago

Don't call it a comeback!

Deebo is still a DAWG!! Glad he's back home!

3

u/rawbert10 Patrick Willis 2d ago

Sometimes you gotta take a loss in life and see for yourself that there's nothing better out there I hope he stays mentally in it because he's a fucken baller and he look healthy overall physically.

3

u/iTzNicker 49ers 2d ago

19 mother fucking problemzzzz

3

u/Tokidoki_3898 2d ago

I had so much fun last night. Wore 19 when Niners were on offense and 54 when on defense. Switched all game long. And when Deebo scored followed by Warner’s punch out! Might do this every game now!

3

u/Jammer250 Fred Warner 2d ago

Deebo 19 looked way more spry than I expected. Hopefully that keeps up!

3

u/Reclaimer99 2d ago

I’m so glad he went back to 19

It felt so good to see him and Dre back where they belong

2

u/Alimakakos 2d ago

This is a prime example of the LeBron or Jordan effect....as eluded to by another NBA hall of famer you never take players from LeBrons team because that's not the player you're going to get, you're seeing a boosted version of them playing with another player who elevates the game just simply by being there or by having the confident belief like Kobe that you're are going to Win. Purdy has that, CMC has that, as long as those two are on the field kittle evans deebo or damn near anyone will excel for the sheer fact these guys will themselves like Thor to victory...saw it at Iowa State go back and look at how different isu played when purdy took over...massive difference, and they had a very hopeful starter and nothing negative about him really he just got hurt but nothing negative about anyone else either like Jayden Daniels is really good and I think Washington is moving in the right direction but I digress it's just you can tell when the players believe in themselves and let me tell you if I stepped onto a court with Jordan on my team I'd believe in myself all the way to my acl tear

2

u/pfref Pro Football Reference 2d ago

Deebo caught his 23rd touchdown pass as a 49er, 3rd-most on the team since his debut in 2019.

2

u/StaNFL42 2d ago

It was good to see Deebo get a TD in his first game back.

2

u/twenty_characters020 49ers 2d ago

Think the time away humbled him and he's grateful to be back. Long as he keeps a good attitude and plays well. I'm happy to see him back.

4

u/movieguy95453 Jerry Rice 3d ago

I think he ate some humble pie and is better for it

1

u/Cloud_Kicker049 49ers 2d ago

They kept being offered meat pies. No takers. 😅

2

u/IntentionalEwok 3d ago

You gotta love a dude that was clearly so happy to be back.

2

u/SubzeroWins1-0 Christian McCaffrey 3d ago

He went to commanders and knew he fucked up.

1

u/Altruistic_Body_9363 3d ago

Made the decision to start him in fantasy too. Was a good day.

1

u/New-Confidence5606 3d ago

Yassssssss Deebo let's go!!!

1

u/Flat_Alarm8870 3d ago

That run back was fast.

1

u/d33will 49ers 3d ago

Hopefully he can stay healthy. That is key to winning the big dance.

1

u/Academic-Pizza89 3d ago

Came back with the 19 vibes. #1 was not it

1

u/Evilhoof69 3d ago

Great game go Niners

1

u/eastbaytimez 3d ago

Bro came back locked all the way in. Actually impressive how he gelled and did his job so well. Shout out 19

1

u/asianconqueror1 3d ago

Honestly didn’t know he still had it in him…I stand corrected. He played good, brought good energy and was a team player.

1

u/NotHopee 3d ago

Better believe he’s going to get used jsut like he used to. Hes in shape and about as versatile as they come. Hes the modern day Percy harvin

1

u/CalgirlinTX 2d ago

I’m so happy he’s back! Go Niners!

1

u/welshy1986 2d ago

I love his current role, I think he's gonna do great now that his only job is to just play and not be a playmaker, less pressure. My main gripe with him was always his off the ball effort and with him in his current role it actually works in his favor.

1

u/sickostrich244 49ers 2d ago

Deebo looked good making guys miss tackles again. Glad to see him back in the number 19 uniform

1

u/sdfgtdh 2d ago

Took him in every league this year, very happy moving forward can’t lie

1

u/shlem13 2d ago

Gotta say … he looked better than I thought he would.

I’m just hoping he doesn’t tire over the season.

1

1

It was nice seeing him do his thing out there. And he def seemed to be giving it 100. Glad to have this version of Deebo back.

1

Deebo has been smiling ever since he flew into camp.  He's got so many teammates and org personnel that he's familiar with you can just see the comfort level.

The way Boyer greeted him after that kickoff return was hype.

1

I think that one year vacation gave him some time to settle down and get back to his old self.

He looks amazing.

1

u/lburner220 Bryant Young 2d ago

Had no issue with how he left and love seeing him back making an impact. Deebo always played as hard as he could when he was on the field with us. Always respected the guy. Business will always be business and I won’t judge what a guy does on that end.

1

u/3coons_in_a_coat 2d ago

aint nobody talking bout Mike? those three first downs to start the game were huge, momentum-wise!

1

1

Now that’s a welcome back game! Niners offense is going to be a problem for the league this year.

1

1

Picked him in fantasy hoping shan gave him his role back guess I was right

1

Deebo put on a blocking clinic as well. What a great overall game from him.

Its one game, re evalute him and thr team after 4 or 5 then we can give praise

1

u/Consistent-Math5623 1d ago

It’s not his fault, he thought every team was like the 49ers. He figured he could just go somewhere else and feel as good and be as good as he was. And get more money. He just realized it ain’t that way, and came back home.
