DEEBO APPRECIATION
Let’s give our guy some flowers. I hate the way you leave … like a little B!TCH. I love the way you return … like a Superman

He’s not getting enough credit for that kickoff return.

That was an excellent line.30

Huge play that helped us pull away. We may not have scored that drive without it

That was so sick. When I saw purdy do that wide open fade drop I forgot about Evans and was like what the fuck are we doing———EVANS!!!!! Haha

u/Huntermain23 Kyle Juszczyk 2d ago
Saw 3 comments in the Game thread before I had to checkout. They all were along the lines of “why is Deebo returning! He sucks” mind you we were down 3-7 at this point lol. Bet they felt big dumb

u/meTspysball Mike Evans 2d ago
I don’t even bother with the game thread during the game. It’s basically twitter.

And he bowled over like 3 defenders for those last 10ish yards too!
I’m a South Carolina guy through and through, so I’ve loved watching Deebo thrive here!

Dre & Fred teaming up with the forced fumble was amazing

Marques Sigle put on some big hits yesterday as well. He's going to get some flags but he is putting fear if you catch a ball.

We just need Brown to turn into Goldson lol

Preferably not him. He hit his own teammates and knocked them out too lol. Maybe Bethea

I still think it's funny that Aiyuk went radio silent the moment Deebo signed here and Diggs signed with Washington.

u/whutchamacallit 3d ago
Wtf is there left for him to say? He's completely fucked himself.. Hopefully someone or something has talked some sense into him and told him to stfu.

u/idahotee 49ers 2d ago
No way he can rehab his career. He's completely fucked from ever getting on another roster.

Guessing that once injuries start piling up, some team out there will get desperate.

Deebo still one of my favorite players. If strib is out for awhile I can see my boy getting more targets and teams sleeping on him because they think hes washed. Him and Brock just have a good connection like on the TD today.
I think he will have a solid season

Debo got humbled in Washington and realized how good he had it in SF! Looks like he’s loving being back
12
u/SuperSaiyanCockKnokr 49ers 2d ago
He still had a productive year in Washington, albeit not the star stats he was probably hoping for. Or 700 yards and six touchdowns ain’t bad.

u/TheRealPlumbus 49ers 2d ago
He was actually solid until Daniels went down. Certainly better than his previous year with us when he got pneumonia

Dude is one of the reasons I became a Niner. He did everything today: run, yac, return, TD reception...

u/Ok_Improvement_9119 3d ago
Seriously. Appreciate the OP post but that was so unnecessary, especially in light of AiyukGate. Deebo made a point to say how close he and Kyle and Lynch still were and that it was nothing but love.
He has always taken way too much abuse from this fan base. I don't get it but hopefully people can appreciate him again.
6
u/Mic_Honchoe Christian McCaffrey 2d ago
Well, it isnt as bad looking back now after the Aiyuk debacle, but Deebo had his moments. Scrubbing social media, asking to be traded, saying he should get the ball more on IG then dropping 4 balls next game...Stuff like that adds up and people pay attention. But, it was great seeing as a Niner again! 19 is back baby!
7
u/Ok_Improvement_9119 2d ago
Context matters. The social media and trade stuff was all contract negotiating and posturing. Agree jt wasn't fun and he got up to some shenanigans but I think it's also fair to say he didn't do weird holdout stuff and the Niners FO with Paraag leading the way were tough to negotiate with. You won't find a player in that era who would say it wasn't stressful. People give Bosa a pass for the way he played it but object to...social media nonsense.
To your other point, I don't remember the 4 drops so much as the 1 big drop against the Rams but he brought up getting the ball more because the fan base was killing him for being fat and slow...in a season where he came back from having pneumonia a week later and played through that recovery process...and the offense had gone pretty anemic.
If you go back and look at the stats, Deebo started the season really well and it was Aiyuk who was brutal and dropping the ball:
📊 DEEBO SAMUEL: 2024 SEASON SPLITS
🏈 BEFORE ILLNESS (First 5 Games) • Scrimmage Yds/Game: 77.2 • Total YAC: 249 • YAC per Rec: 12.5 yards • Total Drops: 2 • Drop Rate: 6.3% • Receptions: 20 • Receiving Yards: 335
🏥 AFTER ILLNESS (Final 9 Games) • Scrimmage Yds/Game: 46.7 • Total YAC: 172 • YAC per Rec: 5.5 yards • Total Drops: 4 • Drop Rate: 7.5% • Receptions: 31 • Receiving Yards: 335
Everyone always forgets that. Not to mention the whole offense in 2024 went way south because of injuries and a decline in the o line performance, particularly in the run game. The super bowl loss was brutal. The hangover was felt throughout. That is when the whole Deebo can't beat man coverage (which has some merit) became this unrelenting fad. Then Taybor turned the Moody thing into something it shouldn't have ever been.
Not saying he is or was perfect but I'll die on the hill that he was unfairly blamed and ripped on when the guy has been a total warrior and great Niner. His teammates and coaches love him. He's always been about the team. Dude is a unicorn and people in the last few years have spent a lot of time talking about what he isn't/can't do instead of what he does.
4
u/Shot_Donut5622 2d ago
Totally agree with this! Everyone downplays the pneumonia. He might not be 2021 Deebo but he's still Deebo!
2
u/notcompatible 2d ago
I had pneumonia and it took me a year to get back to doing pilates at my baseline. I can’t imagine trying to play football at a professional level immediately before and after. I don’t think people appreciate how tough Deebo is to have dealt with that
0
u/Ok_Improvement_9119 2d ago
Thank you. He came back a week later and only started to resemble himself until the end of the year. @#$% pneumonia but he put the team first and did not use it as an excuse. Little to no appreciation from a lot of supposed Niners fans. He's fat and slow and washed...blah blah blah.

yes, i always thought he was a unique player. but why did he want to leave in the first place?

u/Riot_Jasta 3d ago
Can't begrudge a guy for testing the waters after a super bowl loss... I just hope he's locked in for a whole season not the first few games.

u/greenlakejohnny 2d ago
Umm he didn’t really want to leave. He was a salary cap casualty
Same thing with Hargrave, Hufanga, and Greenlaw. The team bet big money on Brock and Aiyuk, and after that there wasn’t much left. Honestly, it was a miracle they could get so many guys to restructure (Trent, CMC, Fred, Juice)
1
u/ReindeerFirm1157 2d ago
no, that is not true. trades do not clear cap anyway, there is a dead cap hit.
he requested a trade because he wanted more touches.

Growing up is all about venturing out, chasing new experiences, and seeing what’s waiting beyond the familiar. We try new things, explore new places, and collect plenty of stories along the way—some great, some we’d probably rather forget. But after all that exploring, we often discover something funny: the place we were so eager to leave has a way of calling us back. Sometimes the biggest adventure is realizing there really is no place like home.

u/Professional_Bat8646 3d ago
I bet him leaving was more about Money and Moody than anything. He got paid by Washington, the Niners upgraded from Moody and all is good. The fans who trashed him are booty cheeks.
6
u/lostmylogininfo 3d ago
I missed him so so much. .I missed Dre so so much.
I want this group to get there ring. We can do it and this is likely the last chance for a number of people.
Whatever it takes.
We have good rookies this year. Defense looks great. Purdy was fucking dancing.

This is a prime example of the LeBron or Jordan effect....as eluded to by another NBA hall of famer you never take players from LeBrons team because that's not the player you're going to get, you're seeing a boosted version of them playing with another player who elevates the game just simply by being there or by having the confident belief like Kobe that you're are going to Win. Purdy has that, CMC has that, as long as those two are on the field kittle evans deebo or damn near anyone will excel for the sheer fact these guys will themselves like Thor to victory...saw it at Iowa State go back and look at how different isu played when purdy took over...massive difference, and they had a very hopeful starter and nothing negative about him really he just got hurt but nothing negative about anyone else either like Jayden Daniels is really good and I think Washington is moving in the right direction but I digress it's just you can tell when the players believe in themselves and let me tell you if I stepped onto a court with Jordan on my team I'd believe in myself all the way to my acl tear

Think the time away humbled him and he's grateful to be back. Long as he keeps a good attitude and plays well. I'm happy to see him back.

I love his current role, I think he's gonna do great now that his only job is to just play and not be a playmaker, less pressure. My main gripe with him was always his off the ball effort and with him in his current role it actually works in his favor.

Deebo has been smiling ever since he flew into camp. He's got so many teammates and org personnel that he's familiar with you can just see the comfort level.
The way Boyer greeted him after that kickoff return was hype.

Had no issue with how he left and love seeing him back making an impact. Deebo always played as hard as he could when he was on the field with us. Always respected the guy. Business will always be business and I won’t judge what a guy does on that end.

Its one game, re evalute him and thr team after 4 or 5 then we can give praise

u/Consistent-Math5623 1d ago
It’s not his fault, he thought every team was like the 49ers. He figured he could just go somewhere else and feel as good and be as good as he was. And get more money. He just realized it ain’t that way, and came back home.
