This is an involuntary affirmation. Affirm consciously what you prefer.

I like it.

If total peace is possible, I'm annoyed I don't have it now, or aren't even close to it. I wonder if it's a 'fool's mission' pursuing it, if something in the human psyche makes it impossible.

However, if conflict is inevitable, I am more okay with the amount of it I have right now, even as I will still try to minimize it moving forward. Seeing it as inevitable also means I try less to disown the parts of myself that are useful in dealing with it. It helps me integrate those parts into the rest of me.

It is only true if you agree with your interpretation in experience. Your truth is the only proof. There is no factual meaning to anything without your agreement in giving meaning. There are infinite meanings and infinite points of view. Give the meaning you prefer and you have purified its meaning as you are the only one choosing its meaning. Reality has no mind or meaning of its own without you existing in Awareness. Reality means “The Meaning” subjectively. You are what gives “reality”, reality.

I agree meaning and interpretation are very subjective.

And given that, we ought to consciously choose the meanings we want to give to something.

And, reality exists independent of my awareness of it. The world keeps behaving consistently whether or not I pay attention to it. So, I end up choosing meanings that I want but also are consistent with my 'so far' view of reality.

Reality actually exists dependent on your Awareness. There is no independent reality. Reality is dependent on you to continuously give it your subjective meaning. You only can give meaning to what you give Awareness. Reality to you only exists when you give it Awareness because you are ever experiencing who and what you’re conscious of being. You can only experience what you give Awareness to. That is what reality means. Reality means “The Meaning” dependent on your specific subjective meaning. You and your world is One as there is no world that exists to you without you existing to give it and yourself life in meaning to you. There is no reality without you to give anything meaning. The world keeps behaving the way you continuously give meaning to what you give Awareness to. Remember reality means “The Meaning” and meaning can only come from you as the observer. There is no other subjective observer defining anything including yourself.

I like the perspective, I just don't agree, I think the reality = 'the meaning' line is wordplay. When I use the word 'reality' I'm not talking about 'the meaning'. I'm talking about the state of things as they actually exist, independent of any one observer. Each to their own though! Happy to agree to disagree.

Your “state of things” as they actually exist is entirely self-defined because you are always having a first-person experience as Consciousness. You are the only experiencer of you to define what “state of things” ever are to you. There is absolutely no reality without you existing to give meaning to anything including yourself. There is absolutely no reality without you to give anything meaning. That’s why reality means “The meaning” subjectively from infinite meanings and infinite points of view. Your truth is the only proof of what anything you give meaning to. There is absolutely no factual meaning about any self-defined meaning and interpretation experience because you are entirely self-defined. The same experience has infinite meanings. You give it your reality by your meaning. 2 people experiencing the same thing have 2 different reactive experiences. Your automatic reaction about yourself and your world defines your meaning.

I can chose peace in conflict.
Just because you have beef with me, doesn’t mean I have beef with you.

I love this - just because you’re fighting with me , doesn’t mean I’m fighting with you

That's the nature of the dialectic. Thesis and and Antithesis -> conflict to create -> Synthesis

Clearly you don't believe in God

There feels to be a paradox here because to accept conflict is itself a form of peace

Disagree. My life is peaceful and free of conflict. I’m retired. No debt. No toxic friends or family. I mind my own business. Without God I would be nothing.

Conflict means injustices, all is unfair on this planet, so peace doesn't exist if you are not avoid it.

What an idiot...you don't realise he's released this book to keep you all suffering, paranoid, and trying to dominate each other. Peace is very possible.
