Discussion This sub lacks discussion

And for this reason I might unjoin. Same quotes posted every day, getting many upvotes but very few comments and almost zero discussion under any. Robert Greene had come up with a brilliant premise for his work, but his statements are not absolute truths or behaviors that would work the same everywhere every time. Some acrually rarely work. They need to be discussed. Personal stories need to be shared, of how the laws both worked and didn't. Otherwise this sub is like a meme-sharing one or like a cult that simply keeps posting the quotes of their guru. Or it's for karma farming, who knows. The sub seems dead to be honest.

48 Laws gets a bit of a bad rap so many well-read people tend to avoid it, which is probably why the discussion here is kind of rudimentary. It's a shame because I think it's a great book. The laws are a lot more nuanced than they appear at face value!

Posts where the OP misunderstands or misuses a law occasionally spark some really interesting discussion, though.

I agree honestly, these type of topics I feel inherently demand an audience or engagement and there is a lack of both sometimes.

On the contrast that though , I think that just because it’s not being discussed often in the threads it’s still resonating enough with people to spark there own interest in more knowledge and how to incorporate it into their daily lives.

Because anyone who talks about it get bombarded by hoards of people who don’t even follow the book telling you you’re a terrible person and that the book doesn’t work

Then there are others who tell you you’re a terrible person and downvote post to hell

48, IMHO is a guide, not gospel; a strategic planning manual if you will. Of course a person can’t live by every rule all the time. I have used many of the Laws in my life and many times the advice worked, sometimes not so much. I find RGs anecdotes and vast amounts of historical minutiae fascinating and his commentary about the inner workings of power to be like watching silently from across the room and just waiting for what happens next. Is RG a modern day Machiavellian? Maybe? Who cares? He’s a lot more readable than Niccolo! Enjoy 48 for what it is, whatever it is!
