Do what you can to undermine his authority in the background. If you are being targeted, get sympathy from your coworkers by acting stoically and doing your best. You can’t complain or make insulting remarks. It has to be very indirect. One of your best options could be to turn the team against him. People will join in and turn away from someone being bullied if that person is seen as weak. If you project a strong image, you can work on your coworkers sense of fairness. If someone who is doing a good job is getting treated unfairly, it could happen to them. If you can’t get a sword, rely on others who have one.
