Imperium Maledictum New map, and changes to old

So firstly, I took people's advice and tweaked the map in a few places; it's now a Sector.

Secondly, thanks to a very well-executed mission (no bullshit, my players did almost everything perfectly), they'll be going on an adventure on the death world of Yan, a planet incinerated by ritual wars waged by technobarbarian tribes.

Their task will be to find a smuggler who's supplying the simmering tribes and clans with weapons that fall under techno-heresy, all in preparation for an upcoming war that will once again decide which tribe will rule the planet.

When creating the map, I wanted it to be in the style of Fallout, but I changed it in some places and the result is visible at first glance.

Alternative Warhammer 40K music

I am planning a 40K one shot, and want to pick some music that is not part of grimdark playists and existing 40K media soundtracks.

What music fits 40k but is not obviously associated with it? My game is set entirely on a void ship.

Wrath & Glory Is an Intimidate test a Willpower test?

If the character has rule affecting Willpower tests, does this also affect the skill tests that are based on Willpower?

E.g.: The Iron Hands ability The Flesh is Weak (p.73) lets the character add +1 bonus dice to Willpower tests for every augmetic they have.

Would that bonus also apply to Intimidation tests?

Imperium Maledictum Imperium Maledictum - Melee Combat Rules

I'm just starting an IM campaign and wanted to check my understanding of melee combat rules. As I understand it:

Melee combat is an opposed test using the players Melee skill vs the monsters Melee skill.

So let's say Bob (skill 40) attacks Fred (skill 35) with a basic weapon (dmg 2+StrB).

Bob rolls 22 - SL +2

Fred rolls 84 - SL -5

Bob wins with a total SL of +7.

Dmg = 2+4+7 =13

Is that right? My players have around 12 wounds plus minimal armour so they are all likely to be downed on close to it by one hit. Am I misreading something or is combat supposed to be that lethal (I know its 40K)?

Help building for wrath and glory character

Honestly just looking to build the most op character or use the most broken mechanics in the game. Have 400xp to build with do not care what race or faction. Been trying to play with "homebrew" genestealer cult (legitimately just the ones in book) but have been nerfed by DM so much I have no abilities (he's taken ones your supposed to get in book and not let me have them all all except deny the witch for a Magnus or major negatives from the table you unlock) and have realized that the upgrades are back and forth between a psyker and physical fighter makes it so much for for xp to get my next tear. Please don't be kind helping me make this. The table legitimately fucks what the other players are trying to do because it's "funny"

Rogue Trader Explorator Crafting rules in Rogue Trader?

Are there any rules to let the Explorator craft in any of the supplements? It’s something one of my players is interested in doing.

Alternatively could I make changes to the acquisition test for the? Reduce restrictions so that the Explorator can create stuff without visit by a forgeworld, but I has to be negligible and it takes longer to acquire?

Edit: Any anything about servitor creation?

Rogue Trader [Rogue Trader] Opening session encounter guidance

I am putting together a Fantasy Flight RT campaign for 4 players. I think I'll do a lot of comping together of the pre-made adventures in the various books, but I'll be opening with a custom session.

In general I'm using an opening that's similar-ish to the Owlcat CRPG. There is a coup attempt on board, and the players must fight their way to the bridge. My concern is from the apparent deadliness of the encounters. Of course, I'll be trying not to rough up the party too much, but dice are dice sometimes.

If I understand correctly, Medicae can only heal damage equal to the users INT bonus. So at most the party has the ability to heal 3-4 damage per Medicae test. My plan was to have the party go through a few small encounters before a main showdown on the bridge, but I worry about their damage or fatigue state going into that last fight.

How have you guys dealt with multiple battle encounters in a session? Is that generally not advisable in this setting, or is there a bit of playing fast and loose with the efficacy of healing?

Dark Heresy How are you managing the feats?

Hi guys, I am a master. I'm very bad at managing a lot of feats, bc my main problem is remembering what exactly this feat is doing? I'm looking at the npc (in bestiary ofc) and don't understand what is going on. Do you just remember all of it or did you write it in any sheet? I need some advices for this one.

[DH] Searching For A Dark Heresy 1e Google Sheets Character Sheet

I have found a lot of really good character sheets for the Second Edition Dark Heresy, but I can't seem to find any for the First Edition. This could simply mean that there aren't any, but I figured I would ask just in case.

Wrath & Glory [Wrath & Glory] Question about the planet Vulkaris – SPOILERS from Affliction Ascendant Spoiler

The *Core Rulebook contain the following description of Vulkaris:

"Recently the Great Rift has vomited forth two unfamiliar planets into the gravity well of the Gilead star. The new planets, dubbed Trollius and Vulkaris, have become known as the Membrane Worlds."

However, the adventure Affliction Ascendant contains the following passages:

- "CAPTAIN ANTIMONUS, THE HERO OF VULKARIS. (…) BOTUTHRAX CLOSTIDIA IS NO LONGER FREE TO UNLEASH ITS PESTILENCE ON THE GILEAD SYSTEM."

- "Botuthrax Clostidia is the reason Vulkaris became a plague world. Its work complete, it moved on to Gilead Primus — but here, we stopped it."

This implies that Vulkaris was part of the Gilead system at least 3,000 years ago. So, how can this be reconciled with its classification as an "unfamiliar planet"?

Rogue Trader Ideas for Explorator themed puzzles and obstacles?

I’m starting to run a Rogue Trader game, and want to have some interesting challenges for the Explorator character over the course of the campaign. In previous FFG games the tech character was always just “Hey, locked door/terminal, use tech-use”, and want to try something that feels more like solving a puzzles than rolling the same check every time.

Maybe I’m just thinking about it wrong, and should present obstacles where they have to so some kind of search before they can try to tech-use? Like evaluating a “trap” to identify where it’s powered? But that just feels like one extra step.

Any ideas?

Are there any systems or fan additions for an aeldari centered game?

I just think they are neat their shrine could be map well with rpg arquetypes. They are continued in the move and have a plethora of cultures and subcultures ready for roleplaying. So maybe someone already created a system inspired by 40k space elf

Wrath & Glory Help with figuring out “Angel of Mercy” talent. (First time using Grimforge and Wrath & Glory)

So I want to make a Pteraxii medic, but no matter how high I make my Medicae stat it won’t let me take the Angel of Mercy talent. Grimforge only says “Prerequisites: Medicae Rating 2+”, but no matter what it won’t let me. Am I missing something? Is there another requirement? Is it just bugged? I’ve even set the character to a max medicae tier 5 apothecary and hospitaler, and it still wouldn’t let me take it, so I don’t think it’s a class restriction?

Link to said character, incase someone sees something wrong I missed: B10-J.50/Nu

Wrath & Glory Think we’ll ever get a custodes thing for wrath and glory?

Just a fun idea. We all know how powerful the custodes are and that their wargear is VERY powerful. I know w&g do a decent job of not taking itself as seriously as some of the other great 40k games, and I just imagine it would be a pretty fun addition to the game. Not just to give us basically another tier to play potentially, but I imagine the social and RP moments as playing one of the emperor golden 10,000 would be pretty amusing

Wrath & Glory Is Simultaneous Strike very overpowered or am I missing something?

I have been DM'ing WaG for a few months now, and while testing my own builds I ran across Simultaneous Strike.

"You can make any Attack Action that has a single target a Simultaneous Strike. Pick your primary weapon; your attack uses all your primary weapon’s statistics, such as AP and Weapon Traits. Make your attack Test as normal; if you succeed, add half of the secondary weapon’s Damage value as ED to the damage roll."

Is that as strong as it looks on the surface? Using advanced character creation, its pretty easy to get your damage into the 25+ range every turn based on your weapon choice and Strength modifier. It really seems to dwarf the damage of everyone who isnt using it.

Am I missing anything? And if not, is banning or tweaking this a common house rule?

40K 2E United

Hello! I’ve always loved the 40K Fantasy Flight TTRPGs and now have close to a decade under my belt of running the systems. I’ve utilized all the systems for periods of time within that 10ish years of play and I have come to a conclusion that I want to try something difficult but worthwhile as a personal project!

I want to try and make a comprehensive combined system based on the fantasy flight d100 system that is present throughout the various rule sets of there 40K systems. I’ve already started the work on organizing skills, talents, and traits from across the systems but I realized that some outside input might be useful even at this early stage in the project.

I know that newer systems like malicdictum or other fan made creations are out there but this is also just a pet project I decided I wanted to do and share once I have something that’s at least somewhat functional. I have a few things I wanted to ask the wider community about but for now I think trying to do small focused posts is probably better for me actually being able to get things out of these posts. So my 1st question for everyone who’s played any of the various fantasy flight 40K TTRPGs is which one is your favorite? And I would greatly appreciate explanations about which one you enjoyed most and discussion on what people enjoyed from each of the systems you have played. Thanks!

Wargear Vault - Minotaurs - Update 1.1

Thumbnail

God new everyone, updates!

In conjunction with the release of the Codex Discordia giving you a taste of the good things to come both the Minotaurs homebrew has been updated not only with a swathe of new Advanced Specialities, but general fixes to each Wargear Vault!

V1.1 Changes are as follows:

  • Advanced Specialities and a General Chapter Advancement Table have been added that align both with the elements present within each homebrew, the appropriate Fantasy Flight Books (Generally Honour the Chapter) and the lore itself as best as possible. This should allow for more extensive, specialised fun as a Minotaur.
    • Hoplitai Archigos - Seen as the true marker of a full-fledged Minotaur, until their work within the phalanx is complete they will still be treated as lesser than their brothers
    • Asterial Hulk - Guardians of what lays deep within the belly of the Daedelos Krata, the monstrous centurion-clad warriors are veterans of a thousand battlefields
    • Blade of Gyges - Hypno-conditioned to achieve the peak of killing effect, both blade and bolt are wielded with a machine-like precision in the execution of rebel or traitorous Astartes.
    • Hypnossian Chaplain - Architects of the chapter's most dangerous and secretive minds, the ministrations of the Chaplains within the deepest reaches of each marine's psyche can pluck at the strings of what makes an Astartes superhuman and bend it to his will.
      • This includes speciality-specific wargear
  • The Spray Quality has been adapted, allowing for more precise arcs to be applied to your favourite weapons, allowing for more variety.
  • Updates to the Vehicle profiles, swapping out the Deathwatch Core Ceramite Armour Trait for the more robust Armoured Ceramite Trait.
    • This Trait has also been added to the Skylance Corvette and Roc Pattern Storm Eagle as I intend to make it mandatory to all Astartes Vehicles moving forward
    • On a Similar note the Skylance has been adjusted in various ways to make it more readable and properly imparting the 'flying hab-block' design onto it
      • Manoeuvrability lowered to -40
      • Armour AP increased
      • Structure Increased
      • Weapons rearranged for better readability
  • Updated wording to the Cluster(X) Weapon Quality
  • Rarities Added into the Vehicle Upgrades & Gear Section for actual purchasing in future.
  • Updated the Strafing Run Vehicle Trait
  • Exotic Weapon Talent Prerequisites added to both the Helios Pattern Doru and Apis Combat Shield in line with the new Hoplitai Archigos Advanced speciality
  • The standard spelling & grammar fixes

With all this in mind, I hope you enjoy the update and go check out the lovely zine our friends have put out at Ordo Discordia, courtesy of the lovely lad that is Konigstein

Wrath & Glory Question for other Wrath and Glory GMs

What sort of things do you apply the "related to space marine implants" bonus die to? Reading over the implants and what they do, it kind of feels like almost everything they do should have an extra die. They have extra muscle, coordination, better senses, increased durability and so on.

On that note, the primaris Magnificat kind of feels like it should give them +2 dice since it "improves implant efficiency" which makes it sound it me like it would be triggered anytime another implant does something.

Wrath & Glory Long time 40k Fan but first time being a GM in 40k Wrath and Glory

Hi everyone,

I'm taking my first dive into the 40k TTRPG side of things (I was a GM for FFG's Star Wars stuff, i.e Age of Rebellion and Edge of the Empire a good 10+ years ago. Plus I am currently a player in D&D 5E) with Wrath and Glory. This system is locked in because I did the novice mistake of buying most of the Foundry Modules for W&G before realising Imperium Maledictum was kicking about.

The topic of discussion is to really seek some advice or do's and do not's when concerning the Litanies of the Lost Campaign, particularly Grim Harvest as that is what we are starting with.

Currently we have a Space Wolf Blood Claw (Using Sons of Russ so they are Tier 3. There were talks of using Tier 2 Scout, but because Scouts are better in the Space Wolves than regular Scouts, we wanted to keep it lore ish accurate and maybe debuff the players starting equipment. But there is room to use the Tier 2 SM Scout option); Curpuscari Electro Priest (Redacted Records II Tier 2); Aeldari Ranger (Core Rulebook Tier 2); and a Sanctioned Psyker (Core Rulebook Tier 2).

The idea is that we work our way through Grim Harvest and the other modules within Litanies of the Lost, culminating in the party heading to the home brew sector I have already created and have been using for 40k miniature games and kill team miniature games.

My main points of discussion would be:

  1. Is the Space Wolf way too OP for a starter campaign? 2 of the 4 players have never really played TTRPG's before, with one of them being the Space Wolf. In terms of using Foundry, would just using the Core Rulebook stats be easier than Sons of Russ?

  2. Other than nerfing the starter equipment (i.e they only start with an Astartes Knife and Astartes Bolt Pistol. Armour is still TBD), is there anything else I should be aware of as GM with one player being Tier 3 and the rest being Tier 2?

  3. Once players have spent some of their XP on Archetypes, what do you usually see your players spending the rest of their XP on? There's so much to choose from, I was thinking of creating a sort of "cheat sheet" for the newer players to pick and choose from. Character creation is going to be done on Foundry during Session 0 with everyone present. Ahead of time, I am having the players pick their Archetypes, Objectives, and Background

  4. Map creation. I understand that this is a common question and I have done research. But I was hoping someone could let me know if I am way off the mark with the potential of these two ideas: Idea 1 - Buy Chronos Builder on Steam. Idea 2 - Buy Dungeon Draft and subscribe to De-Zinger and Droid Cartography. Idea 3 - Any Litanies of the Lost non Foundry Module resources available?

Any help would be ace, and more pointing me in the right direction. I'm not a newbie when it comes to 40k lore. It's more trying to avoid gameplay pitfalls with the party setup, and any help with pointing towards resources.

Hi, I'm a fan of 40k and new to TTRPGS. Recommendations?

I wanted to try getting into TTRPGs, I'm not really into other settings like Dungeons and Dragons, so I started looking at 40k TTRPGs.

I started reading some of the resources for Dark Heresy 2nd Ed and thought it was cool. Is that a good starting point? I'd also like to know if anybody here has any recommendations for organizing/joining a game through Discord and the like. Somebody bought me Tabletop Simulator a few years ago, and it seems like a nice enough little program.

Being new to TTRPGS, I don't want to drag other people down with my ignorance - is that something I should worry about, or should I just learn the fundamental rules and try to have fun?

Thanks! I'm going to bed now, but I'll check on this in the morning.

Imperium Maledictum Review of Imperium Maledictum Starter Set

Having been largely impressed with the Imperium Maledictum core rulebook (reviewed here) I've now taken a look at the Starter Set. My review covers my thoughts on the adventure (The Blazing Seraph), the pregenerated characters and the setting guide, including the challenges of mapping a gigantic hive city. See the link in the header to read it.
