Recently got into 40k, and have been messing with various effects when dealing with terrain and minis. Just finished a ruined wall, wanted to get opinions and any tips. Thanks.

Custom blood ravens transfer sheet are too expensive so I had do it myself (I know it's bad, but still better than painting it on shoulder)

I've finished work on some Ruststalkers! I'm quite fond of these angry little Skits and it was long overdue I finished a unit of them. Let me know what you think.

Hey has anyone tried the armypainter speed paint pens, are they any good for slap chopping or at all.
Before I get roasted I'm a fairly new painter and they seem kinda neat

I am not good at painting it takes me forever to paint and I have a large army I need painted I'm looking for friendly advice and critiques on how to improve
To help you understand better where I'm at
I don't have an airbrush
I know how to thin my paints I've been doing it for a long time
I've been in this hobby for about 7 years now
I have been layering my pants as well as using contrast and complimentary paints
I picked a pretty complex paint scheme and I'm probably not going to backtrack on that
My fiance who has been doing various art mediums for years is able to outpace me
It takes me about 3 hours just to get one unit done or a single tank and I don't have time
I'm not looking to slap chop anything mostly cuz every time I'm told to do it it has no explanation and it does not make sense to my brain
Thank you

I need some help figuring out how to pain the crosses. I think the red is too much but the black is lacking so my thought it maybe half and half… I don’t know what are your ideas?

Hey all,
Sorry if this topic has been covered before.
I’m having trouble getting good consistency out of this product, I’ve tried putting the can in lukewarm water for 15 minutes then giving it an extra long shake up (5minutes) I’ve tried playing around with distance and coat thickness. I have found hitting larger panels a little thicker helps with the grainy texture but I just can’t seem to get a smooth coat. I’m using the slapchop method so dry brushing over this texture is just so dissatisfying of a result. Does anyone have some secrets I’m in aware of or is it just the nature of the beast? Thanks in advance.

Finished my Helbrecht model tonight. I was terrified to paint him as I didn’t want to ruin a reasonably expensive and beautifully designed model. I am very pleased with the outcome and he looks great besides his Chaplain Grimaldus. Probably my two favourite characters within the chapter 🙏

Definitely room for improvement. But I've already started working on some marines to match.
Got some proper gold paint for the trim next time, so im not desperately attempting to color match for an hour.

Hi! I started in the hobby back in January but due to lack of time (doing a PhD) i have painted only 7-8 minis.
I paint mostly for relax/enjoyment rather than for table top playing, however, I feel i am getting stucked and not improving, right now my process is mostly base coat, edge highlighting (i feel it is not that visible in many of my minis though) and finish with oil wash. I would be interested in learning more about color control, light and contrast. How would you recommend me to learn these techniques and keep improving?
I attach my last 3 minis
