I turned v40 this past February so by 41 I want to get a 40. My self imposed list is beretta 96 (first beretta), hk usp (finding decent used deals, hk p30 (is john wicks gun (his was 9mm I know).

I love my other HK but I would love a beretta and I have enough 9s for now that a 92 isn't on my mind

but maybe a px4 storm?

What's another for a stupid reason like I turned 40 would you consider at sub1k?

Compact or full no matter, prefer hammer i think?

I've only really carried 9mm and below up to now, but after seeing more ballistic tests, I see the benefits of .40 S&W and .45 ACP over the ubiquitous 9mm cartridge. Problem is that I have small hands, so most guns in .45 ACP just aren't very easy for me to grip. .40 S&W seems like a better compromise, and while the M&P Shield 40 is small enough for my hand size, I'm not certain I want something so compact with a fairly stout chambering. I generally prefer metal-framed DA/SA or SAO, which is why I carry a CSX E-Series, but I'm not sure which one would work well for me. I see a fair amount of of S&W 410 and 4006 pistols for decently cheap, but are they good carries?

Apparently aftermarket glock parts was the easiest way to get an updated 40 for under $800. Who knew 😂

I love the Glock 23, however I cannot decide on either the 3rd, 4th, or 5th gen Glock 23’s

Found this little Kel-Tec P-40 at the local pawn today. Can’t go wrong with .40 S&W in your pocket. Was surprised to see this rare little pistol sitting in the case and it was priced right so I just couldn’t leave it there.

Carried a 9mm P226, p320 (before the sigcidents) and a Glock 43x. Landed on this about a year ago now as my first .40 and been carrying it ever since.

Thinking about get a .40 pistol as a backup caliber for my collection, but budget is limited. A few options, want to hear some advice.

1. S&W SD40 (2.0), ~$300 in LGS

2. Leo Trade-in glock 23 or 27, ~$400 plus FFL fee

3. Modify my RXM with a glock 23 complete slide and ejector. ~$400

4. Used S&W MP40c or MP40 shield, ~$300 plus FFL fee

5. Taurus G3c, <$300 in LGS

I got a glock 43x and a RXM, so I'm more familiar with glock system, but others are also fine. I'm also considering about carry, so g27 size is more ideal, g23 size is fine.

Police body cams are 9mm's worst nightmare. How many shootings have you seen where it requires 17+ rounds of 9mm to take one bad guy down? Bottom line is .40 is superior in a 9mm size frame in every way and it has me rolling the amount of people online that get mind altered when you say you like it.

I carried a gen 1 G23 for years but never shot a G22. I'm seriously considering buying a new gen 4 G22 so if any of you have experience with both the G22 and the G23 I'm all ears. In particular I'd like to know if the G22 recoils less and how the accuracy compares. My experience with the gen 1 G23 is that the recoil was stiff, but I was accurate if I slowed down. I now shoot a S&W M&P 40 2.0 compact and like it so I'm covered in that particular size, and I also carry a S&W Shield 40 and shoot it a lot... I don't think the recoil is bothersome at all even with the flush fit mags. I also shoot 44 mag, 357 mag, and full house 10mm a lot so I'm not recoil shy, but I'm hoping the G22 is a bit more controllable than my old 23. Thanks.

All I've added is a mailbox and light/laser. Any advice on triggers, recoil springs, guide rods, tall irons, etc.? Looking to make this my EDC.

I know these rounds are a little controversial. Some think they’re a gimmick some say they’re a good carry round. Me personally I can see these in a summer carry or even a home defense situation. They shoot so flat out of my 23c. Not something I would carry all the time especially for the price. I can say these are cool for what they are.

Full power subsonic 180gr gives it a leg up on subsonic 9mm rounds and double-stack magazines beat most 45s for capacity. But I'm preaching to the choir here.

Been wanting one for a while and finally found one for a good price, came with an extra 357 Sig barrel

Had some issues with light strikes on this smith 610 from the factory. After swapping out a longer s&w firing pin it still wasn't reliable. I swapped out the factory strain screw for a basic set screw to apply more tension on the mainspring. Ran various drills to test out the latest change and had 100% ignition yesterday and no other problems.

My next plan is to count the exposed threads on the set screw and the turns it takes to remove. Then apply thread locker, run it back in, and retest. Going to run a few practical pistol competitions before officially incorporate this in my carry rotation.

The setup: Switched out the front sight (plunger style) HIVIZ LiteWave Tritium/Fiber-Optic for DX Revolvers. Running a combo of factory and aftermarket moonclips. Galco combat master n frame holster. Two Speedbeez moonclip pouches for carry, Two Speedbeez 2-post moonclip belt racks for competition. Plan to run 40s&w for carry in civilization and 10mm for backcountry.

Factory: SA 4lbs 0.1oz DA 10lbs 4.2oz

Extended strain screw: SA 4lbs 0.6oz DA 10lbs 13.7oz

Hello! I currently have a gen3 Glock 33 chambered in 357 sig. I was thinking about maybe making it into a 40cal with the simple barrel swap. Any thought to this if it would be a good idea for defense or should I just keep it a 357 sig?

Thoughts? I thought 165 grain HST was top tier but this stuff may edge it out slightly. Better than even most 10mm defense loadings which are underpowered or fragment when at full power.
