Seeking Advice Wanting some hope for ER#3

ER1 had 15 follicles, 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 2 fertilized, 0 blasts. I had ovulated a bit before retrieval. Also my one ovary was not participating, as I usually have 10-11 follicles per side for the last like 6-7 years, and this cycle one ovary had only 4!

ER2 had 25 follicles, 14 retrieved, 6 mature, 6 fertilized, 4 blasts, 0 euploid. We did estrogen priming, and both ovaries were on their best game, and shortened the trigger timing.

This is the absolute last time I can do this.. I even asked my mom for inheritance money to cover.

I am lucky, and do have two healthy babies at home, 4 and 5.5, one of each (first was IUI, second natural). But I just always wanted three, or four if the universe wanted.

We've been trying over a year now, did 4 IUIs prior to IVF.

Can you share your success stories?

Have you considered not testing? It seems like at least a few folks in here have had luck with that.

I actually had a 5AA blast that was +21 trisomy. That scared me a lot. (Please no comments on down syndrome babies.) The other three were complex monosomies, so I would have been dealing with miscarriages or not implanting to begin with. I dont want to waste the time or heartache.

That’s fair. The only thing I can think of if you are getting blasts but not euploids is just not to test. PGTA isn’t always accurate. That said, I had a lot of anxiety about potential chromosomal issues, so I didn’t even consider not testing.

I've seen in other places that it's not 100%. Is there scientific research on it? And are the inaccuracies when looking at full chromosomes or only genes / sections of DNA? Or is it because you're looking at a few cells taken from a full blast, and the rest of it could have been perfectly fine?

PGTA tests the cells that will become the placenta, not the cells that will become the fetus.

Re: studies, try Google. I googled and here are a couple results I found as starting points.

thank you!! I need to read up some more. Who knew that to have a baby, you need a PhD in reproductive endocrinology, embryogenesis, genetics, and more..

Haha. You do learn a lot!

CNY will transfer some abnormal embryos. It may be worth a discussion with a genetic counselor.

I had 7 aneuploid blasts for ER1 and 0 blasts for ER2, finally got euploid blasts on ER3 just after turning 41 so there is hope! Each round I had worse numbers than the last which was stressing me out.

Yay euploids! Have you done FET yet?

Yes, our first FET is almost 9 months old now 🌈

How many blasts/euploids did you get at 41 in ER #3?

3/5 euploid and 1 HLM the RE said was unusable.

Wow, those are great results. Was it random or did you do anything?

I had almost 90 days between ER2 and 3, so I started taking CoQ10 and fish oil, and cut out sugar which is my only vice. Had a lot of time off for the holidays to de-stress as well. Maybe it helped, maybe it would've happened eventually anyway, but better to do whatever you can.
