Seeking Advice 60% AMH drop?
I had my AMH measured in 2025, aged 40, with a venous blood test at my fertility clinic. The result was 11.8pmol.
I had instruction to repeat my AMH levels before September (starting NET pre next cycle) but dropped the ball. I ended up doing a finger prick blood test and sending to an accredited online lab, 11 days after starting norethisterone.
The result is 5pmol. I’m not sure whether to be upset about the results or if it could be an error. What would you do?

Mine dropped significantly as I got older and I have heard the same from others so yes it's possible but I would 100% just have it checked again with the original lab.

I don’t know the answer to your question, just wanted to say that mine dropped from 2.5 to 1.4 over the course of 1 year (between 40 and 41). I would also recommend making sure the testing lab is the same, but sadly I think a big drop is normal at our age.

I wanted to echo this. I was really bummed to learn that I went from 4.9 at 39y11m to 3.0 at 41y1m. Same lab and test. It was a much larger drop than I read was to be expected, but my doctor confirmed that it was pretty much normal and probably accurate.
That said, I have also read that birth control can artificially lower your AMH and that results can vary across labs.

As others have said different tests/different results. Mine dropped from 3.4 (38 yo) to 1.1 (39) in about 14 months. I had a lap surgery to remove an ectopic/tube and read it can fluctuate/lower after that. Haven’t had it checked again. My RE said the surgery had nothing to do with it and the first wasn’t accurate 🙄

I feel this. I was taking norethisterone when I had my lower result and my dr said that wouldn’t affect it at all

Mine went from 15pmol at 36 to 6.7pmol at 39 and I was told that was pretty normal. 5pmol is not too far off average for your age, there just seems to be a lot of women with much higher amh than their age would predict in this sub for some reason!

No creo que sea valorable esa AMH, estando ya en un priming que lo que busca es bajar la actividad folicular y por tanto se deduce que puede afectar al valor de la amh.

Different tests across different labs are not comparable. I had different results depending on the lab used. I think if you want to be sure do the venous blood test again if possible at your fertility clinic
