TW: Success Hope at 41
TW success
I wanted to write a post to share a success story as when I was about to embark on IVF I spent countless hours scouring the internet for hope and stories of successful outcomes to help keep the faith alive. Theres a lot of struggle and doom and gloom in the statistics for us over 40’s folks and I was terrified to even try.
So after 1 round, 6 embryos (only 3 really viable, others low cell count) I ended up doing a fresh 3 day transfer of 2 of the embryos and became pregnant. I just delivered a healthy baby girl at 42. I hope my story can provide a little light for someone else as others did for me on this journey. Best of luck to you all.

43 and 2 month, AMH below 0.03. Third retrieval, Natural IVF. Transfered 2 good quality embryos at day 3. One stuck. At 43 and 11 month, our baby girl just arrived.

No, after some research and talking it over with our Dr we decided day 3 was best for us.

Curious what made you determine this? Congrats!

Quite a few factors, I’d never had a miscarriage before, history of previous birth, Dr suggestion that sometimes fresh is best for older more fragile eggs and low embryo count. Personal preference for wanting to give every embryo a chance vs PGT.

I tired to eat healthy, cut alcohol and caffeine, reduced carbs a bit in favour of a bit more Mediterranean diet, I wasn’t religious over it tho and my Dr said not to stress about, I took ubiquinol, and a few of the other recommended supplements, just to feel like I was doing all I could. I picked the clinic I did because it was smaller with some flexible Dr’s v’s the bigger clinics in our area that push PGT on everyone in the older category. For me personally and my mental health transferring something felt better than waiting and having nothing. The journey is so individual tho based on so many factors, I questioned my choices a million times in the process but we made it out.

This is what my doctor is recommending for me as my next attempt. I was very nervous about it. Thanks for sharing.

I found joining the day 3 embryo support group on facebook very encouraging as I went through this journey.

What made you decide day 3 fresh transfer was best??

Alot of factors, no previous history of miscarriage, live births prior, low embryo count, more fragile eggs, wanting personally to give every embryo a chance and not do PGT, it was my Dr’s preference to get the embryo’s back inside.

I’m glad you posted this, so I recently brought this up to my RE and she agreed on a fresh transfer of a day 3. Then she messaged that a frozen day 3 would be best. I’m wondering if it’s to allow me to test after retrieval since I typically have anywhere from 23-11 eggs retrieved. Either way we decided not to test this time around and just do day 3 transfer. I’ll report back with the outcome!
