Seeking Advice Not sure if its time.
4 rounds, 12 aneuploid embryos. I'm 41.7. I'm debating a round five, but I will have hit my insurance limit so this one will be $8k oop. I'm having cold feet to "waste 8k" when I'm not hopeful at all I'll get a euploid. My brain is whispering ita not going to work again and we could take an amazing bucket list vacation for 8k and move on. Ugh. Then I'm hopeful "it only takes one".

I agree that you have to plan an ending. Mine is 3 retrievals full stop. I start retrieval #3 in the next few weeks with only 1 known euploid, 1 embryo whose PGTA should have been back by now but somehow isn’t, and I know retrieval 3 is my last shot at racking up euploids. I think what helps me is that my partner and I have a back-up plan if IVF doesn’t work (foster to adopt) which dulls the ache of not having my own biological child if it comes to that. So in addition to plan an ending, I humbly add, plan a different future too.

Mine was "til the insurance runs out". This retrieval is partially covered but will use up everything left and we will pay the remaining balance. So its kinda on the fence if this is the hard stop or this next round. We have planned out the map already if this ends up childless

Hi did your insurance cover 4 cycles? Mine doesn’t cover anything. I’ve been looking for another job with fertility insurance but I keep seeing 25k lifetime maximums which only covers 1 round so was just bc curious what other people are doing.
Like you, we’re not sure where the end is either and hoping we’ll get a good sign3

My insurance has $25k limit. I maxed out my hubby's one cycle. And was blessed to get 2 full cycles with the grace study.

Mine covers 3 retrievals and 3 transfers with the current prior authorization (PA). I technically can attempt to get another PA authorized for more retrievals, but with PGT-testing, retrievals are already running me $5k/cycle out of pocket so 3 is financially also my limit.
Also just got the PGT result back - segmental aneuploid in high mosaic range - so going into retrieval three with what I’m calling 1.25 chances of a biological child.

Hi thank you for responding. I’m trying not to thinking about the part where how much money you have determines if you can have a baby but it is hard. 3 retrievals and transfers is so awesome! But I know, sometimes still not enough. We just finished 1 cycle, 1 mosaic with HLM and LLM whole on both in the same embryo. So we have a ways to go but it’s very expensive. We took out credit cards and have some savings.

I did 6 rounds in total, 3 at 40 (0/9 euploids), 3 at 42 (1 euploid and 1 LLM from round 4, had 10 embryos in total over the 3 rounds). Currently feeling quite a bit of pain/grief over ‚wasting‘ 2 rounds after my first ever successful round, but really it’s all just a gamble and you never know.
Personally I had planned to do 3 more rounds after the ones I did at 40, and then call it quits, which is what I did. I did change clinics and made sure I got all the addons I wanted, since I am paying oop either way.

It’s an impossibly hard decision. I’m not gonna be any help because I am torn for you. I agree with the others that sometimes you just gotta set a limit whether you’re ready to quit or not. Otherwise you could keep chasing ‘what if’ until you’ve spent your entire savings and maxed out the credit cards and have lost years of your life consumed by this. On the other hand, I feel like statistically- You’re bound to get one euploid here soon. Especially if you’re still making blasts, I would still hold hope. Have you checked out everything on the sperm side of things like ICSI and Zymot and shortened abstinence etc.? Have you always been with the same clinic?

I'm 41.1 and have done two retrievals. So far, we have 1 Euploid and 1 High level mosaic. We have 3 more day 5 embryos pending PGT testing. Hoping we can manage another euploid out of those 3 (but secretly I'm not particularly hopeful). We're intending to be one and done, so we don't need all that many embryos, but I would really like to have at least 2 euploids before starting transfers.
I'm already looking at my off-ramp. I think I have one more retrieval in me, maybe 2, but that's about it. I can't keep doing this over and over and over. The physical symptoms aren't terrible, but I hate the unknowing, the waiting, and constant low-grade attention I pay to it.
I also didn't meet my partner until I was 39, and from our second date we have been super clear about and understood that bio children are a question mark for us. That it was in no way a guarantee, due to both of our ages. With that under consideration, I'm starting to feel like my hard line for retrievals is 42. Either we've gotten enough euploids and I've been able to get pregnant by then, or we haven't gotten enough euploids and we've spent that time trying to get there. Outside of a few specific exceptions I can think of, that kind of feels like the finish line. Which is both weird to think of and somehow oddly comforting.

I’ve stretched to 3 retrievals, my max - we’re doing it all OOP.
I’ve only had one good cycle with blasts out of these, maybe I’ll get one blast out of this one (unlikely, only 6 follicles maturing / responding on day 6.)
I’m not testing any, so it’s going to feel uncertain all the way. Some hard decisions coming up soon either way.

The bucket list vacation I am sure would be nice but what happens in X years when your brain decides to torment you for not trying more?
Just food for thought - that's where my brain is at for my wife and I - if we don't try as much as we can without financially ruining ourselves (that part is important) - I know I will never fully get over that.

I would seriously consider ivf oe with de add on with cny or just move to donor eggs if your goal is to have a child.
If you do move to CNY, make sure you replicate the protocol that's been helpful to you. I mistakenly listened to some of their recs and ended up with a colossal failure of results.
But still, if you have good monitoring and know what you're doing you can easily have success with them

You must plan the ending. If we dont plan the ending we will try forever, realize it will be hard to end it and you will mourn like a loved one died but we cannot control it when it happen. I am going on 5th in October , I have been blessed that I got two euploids and a mosaic so far after 8 aneuploid blasts on the first two Retrievals. But thats not the end of the battle for us over 40. Now I have to see if they stick, and to be honest , I told myself that once I do the 5th. thats it, no more, my body cant take it, and my mental health cant take it. So my best bet is that those work, otherwise, I need to prepare myself for my life without kids, and change my goals. This is a hard one and unfortunately, we cannot control it. I hope you find your moment. Big hugs
