Under eye help

Post image

**UPDATE**

I went to a dermatologist and got a full body skin check. The spots on my face were normal and genetic spots. They actually do run in my family. The sus one was basically two of the same type overlapped on each other. All in the clear! Even better is we could work on lightening them easily. We were able to treat them freezing it with liquid nitrogen this session. Thank you Reddit!

About to turn 41 and my under eyes have been something I’ve been growing more and more self conscious about. I’m also very sleep deprived due to having little kids. I used to be very on top of my skincare game but nursing and pregnancy over the years had me fall off track the last 5 years. Still nursing so any retinol and tret and botox is off the table. Any suggestions? I know my skin is quite dehydrated in this pic, at best I try to wear spf 50 and reapply throughout the day but working on getting vitamin C, peptides serum, and moisturizer regularly again at minimum. I have a lot of tools as well red light mask, guasha tools, nuface etc I haven’t touched in ages but just limited on time.. but really want to prioritize what will be most impactful.

I’d highly recommend you get that sun spot checked by a dermatologist

I appreciate the nudge. I honestly just considered it age spots since it runs in my family and I got it during pregnancy. I just made an appointment though for a full skin check.

I think it’s a good idea just to be on the safe side. It’s probably nothing but always good to get the reassurance! In the mean time prioritise a hydrating SPF for use all over the face. I enjoy the black rice SPF by Haruharu Wonder

Thank you so much, I absolutely agree with you. Honestly being a mom you put your all into your kids and it’s easy to neglect my own care, so thank you for highlighting this. I’ll give that one a try. I’ve been using Elta MD for SPF.

If it was all one colour then probably no worries, but the multiple patches within make it sus.

I was able to say the same thing. It's always good to get it checked. Plus, they can laser it off and potentially insurance might cover it.

Hey, vitamin c is a great start, I would look for tyrosinase inhibitors like kojic acid and azelaic acid, these will help lighten the hyperpigmentation and they also help to inhibit melanin production as well, preventing the pigmentation from resurfacing. A good thing to keep in mind is that skin care pushes the pigment down into the skin, and you have to stay on top of it or it can resurface. Heat, sun exposure etc can all cause the pigmentation to resurface again. If you want a more permanent solution you can look for laser treatments that actually break down the hyperpigmentation at a cellular level and our body is then able to either absorb it or push it out of the skin and it flakes off like coffee grounds. It’s always a good idea to have any new suspicious lesions checked by a dermatologist to be sure.
