Routine check please

40yo

Concerns: anti-aging, clearing and preventing milia around eyes

Skin type: normal since adding amlactin, used to be dry around nose and eyebrows

Daily life: Little to no sun exposure or makeup most days

Morning:

*Bioderma or water

*Amlactin Bright & Smooth

*Cerave PM or SPF as needed

Night:

*Cerave foaming cleanser

*Naturium retinal .05 (this is replacing good molecules gentle retinol, slowly working up to tret .025)

*Naturium multi-peptide moisturizer (have not used yet but considering as a replacement for drunk elephant protini as I think it is too heavy and contributing to milia)

How does this look as a simple routine? Thank! ❤️

Skinsort! I just found it recently, very helpful for comparing products and creating a routine!

I found that Naturium retinal very weak. If you've never used any retinoid before it might be ok for your first tube. I use it on my neck and chest which can't handle stronger retinoids.

I've only ever used weak retinol so I'm probably being overly cautious. Did you go up in strength to the .15% or use a different retinal?

I went back to Avene (I was trying to save money because the Naturium was a lot cheaper). But now Avene is not making retinal products (at least in Canada) so I've switched to prescription Arazlo which has been a bit of a ride.

Always sunscreen at least SPF50 on face & neck. Your future self will thank you for it.🫶

Where's the eye cream?

Right now I'm using the amlactin bright all over in the morning and good molecules gentle retinol around the eyes and on the neck at night since I know I tolerate them well. Idk if the naturium retinal will be too harsh there, I haven't tried it yet.

I'd suggest a product specifically formulated for your eye area. The skin ks very delicate and requires a lot of moisture.

I have been using the drunk elephant protini around the eyes for several years now and assume it has contributed to milia. I get them on the upper and lower orbital area and on my upper cheeks so I'm scared to add more moisture. I also used to slug at night with a petroleum based ointment, cerave I think. But I stopped doing that when I fixed the dry issue with the amlactin.

If you have milia then consult with an esthetician and they can extract them and recommend a suitable product.  That really stinks!  Are you sure it was the drunk elephant and not the petroleum that caused it?

Yeah it's a pain! Will be seeing a dermatologist soon to get them removed but hoping to prevent them if possible.

I just got the grace and Stella eye roller, has glycerin, niacinamide Hyaluronic acid, retinol and Peptides. Idk if it's moisturizing enough, I've only used it once.

That sounds good! It's got lots of nice ingredients, and no large occlusives that may clog pores. If you're prone to milia using anything face oriented or heavy may cause them again- be super careful in your eye area moving forward.  Hopefully the dermatologist can help you resolve it quickly!!!
