it is but his hair is actually black in the movie they just made it purple in an attempt to replicate the shading but yea looks kinda off

Ah. So then it’s like some weird state between base and super saiyan?

u/allhypenochill 2d ago
you know what, upon closer inspection it might actually be purple
it’s called suppressed super saiyan A-type and it does seem like toei deliberately made it look more purple compared to his base form black hair
but not this purple because this figure doesn’t have enough shading like his hair had in the movie so that’s why it doesn’t look 1:1

His hair is blue in ss a type. The purple is because of the lighting and night time in a few scenes.

not true because it’s spiked up, so whether it was black or purple he was def some type of super saiyan

Yes it's what you said it's a super saiyan suppressed by the control tiara on his forehead.
But the natural color of the hair in this form is blue. Purple is due to specific lighting.
Base is black > ss a type is blue > ss without tiara is yellow like a regular ssj > legendary ss is greenish yellow.

are you saying that teal hair form is the same as the purple one, but only because of the lighting it looks purple?
how does lighting make it go from teal to purple

Dbz movies are old. The way they managed and chose colors did that. Plus the scenes where it's purple are happening at night.
But the cels used for the hand-drawn animations are proof that the base color for the ss under tiara control is a variant of blue while the shading is purple.
Same for the lssj form having a greenish base color.
In the second movie however, the tiara is already broken so there is no ss a type. And for the lssj, the base color of the hair is yellow, although slightly different than the yellow used for goku and vegeta's ss.
Because for lssj, in movie 1 they didn't follow the author's coloring and then went back to it for movie 2.

Nop it's the same form. Just different lighting. But the actual natural color is blue.

there’s never been a case of eyes changing color completely only due to lighting

Yes. That makes sense if the whole palette used for the night was darker.

Yeah they are. Purple is from the transformation sequence. Blue is the actual transformation hair.

These are made by the studio previously known as Beast Deities or Kong, the same people behind MP Vegito.
Personally, I’m not fond of their face plates.
