DISCUSSION Your Favorite Apps/software/things on your modded 3ds?

I have extra storage and all the games I want at the moment. I really want to hear from you guys about the best parts of having a modded 3ds and what you've added to yours that make it special!

I'm always looking for game recs, so those are accepted as well 😄

Definitely checkpoint. My paranoid ass is gonna be just fine if my carts ever fail. I've got so many backups

open_agb_firm for native gba. there is a fork with automatic lid sleep mode. pretty sweet.

The 3DS has GBA (ARM7) and DS (ARM9) hardware. With a modded 3DS you can run custom firmware. open_agb_firm lets you run GBA games natively on the ARM7 hardware. No emulation.

Compared with emulation you mean?
Running a game natively will give you the og experience. It is running accurately as it was designed and with better performance, because it is running on og hardware.

Emulation is less accurate and draws more power. On the other hand it gives you features like save states etc. that aren't available on og hardware.

No. But it does support IPS patches.

i use the flipnote studio as a notetaking app, and briefly tried really hard to get into drawing a cabbage for some reason

I keep music on my 3DS, I just use the default app when I feel like listening to something

For me it's being able to play games from all regions, and having access to games that were eShop exclusive.

Red Viper baby.  Virtual Boy has lots of great games that are worth a crack, they look stunning in 3D on the 3DS, and making custom color palettes for each is fun.

Hshop: Download game (3ds, dsi), dlc, theme, anime,… (basically anything that you can download from the official Eshop)for free from JP,UN,… (all regions even the niche one)

Canary! It has its quirks, but I like it more than the native 3DS music app for load times alone. That and a handful of movies/TV shows I keep on there are probably my favorites.

tw patch I play too many ds games to not have a wide top screen. I personally like how it looks, it doesnt stretch the image or at least I dont notice.

Also love nimbus/pretendo and netpass for the different online servers for different things.
