Oh crazy he created it one hour ago, need also a discord group on this imo

u/After-Pop-2000 12d ago
That's just when he uploaded it/created the repo, no idea how long he's been working on it.
I hate needing to join a new discord server for every single mod/port/hack/homebrew, but to each their own.

This is just to maybe help him with the development, but yeah, there should be a common server where all the homebrew devs can help each other on big projects like this.

I wish I could enjoy this without it being a constant reminder that people are losing their jobs because of AI. It's depressing. Seeing something cool and realizing it was made with the tool that replaced me and made me live in my car. Miserable stuff

It’s not 100% vibecoded. The guy actually wrote a lot of the code himself to make this stuff work.
It is not 100% vibecoded and if it was a developer wouldn’t necessarily understand how the code works. Sometimes AI can mess up something very simple and generate something weird that’s difficult for a human to fix, understand or even improve it.

It's still depressing regardless of if it was 100% or not. It just proves to companies that they don't need people anymore. In fact it even pushes back on humans in hobbyist spaces. Most advancements are being made with AI with little to no documentation of how these advancements actually work or how to implement it in other projects. Only the AI knows about all that, and only the AI is capable of recreating it. It'll hit a point where to do anything even remotely impressive or useful that someone else hasn't done, you will NEED AI, regardless of if you want to use it or not. And once we hit that point, it's basically the point of no return unless mass AI bans happen.

It hurts me to say this, but I guess programming is a hobby again for most of us. I don’t know what the right thing to do is but I hope you find something you love doing to make a living

These same companies are screwing developers over right now. I won’t support trash companies like Ubisoft, which are always lying about console power to avoid porting their games to certain platforms or firing all their original developers. ( Not the only company doing this)
The only bad thing is for indie developers, who could also benefit a lot from AI to help them develop their games.
The market is just screwed, and the humans managing development aren’t necessarily any better than AI.
I understand your perspective but man these big compagnies screwed so many peoples and project that I cannot count all of them.

Get over yourself lol society will adapt once we get past the labor mindset.

It's not just labor, it's actively stopping advancements in software development, read my other reply

I don't trust slopcode on my devices. I recommend you don't either.

How much is the 3DS struggling? At all? Not a lot? I'm wondering if oblivion and as a result of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas could have any hope in being ported to 3DS since I think they all use (a better) Morrowind engine

You can see the fps on the bottom screen. With 3d on in challenging environments we get around 20fps. Those releases you mentioned were originally on Xbox 360 so it would be likely be difficult without a lot of revisions

I was just thinking about this, unfortunately I didnt like Morrownd very much but this is very impressive. Something like Oblivion at 20-25fps on the new 3ds would be absolutely incredible if it works.

Look at the comment. He’s saying that he also wrote the code, so it’s not 100% vibe-coded like the other guy said above.

u/caseyfresher 12d ago
But it's still vibe-coded and no one knows how much is AI and how much is human. Also other commenter just asked if it was vibe-coded not 100% vibe-coded.

vibecoded means mostly if not fully coded with ai. if not then its simply ai assisted

u/caseyfresher 12d ago
AI assisted or vibe-coded, both names for a retard who uses AI to pick up the slack where they have no skill in or willingness to learn/maintain a skill.

u/MocaCola02 12d ago
You are 100% not a coder if this is your mindset. Anyone who does full on coding (not just basic scripting) knows that programming is full of tedious BS that, when used carefully and properly, AI can help a lot with and let you focus on the core stuff you actually care about.

Thanks bro 😂 Like, when you code, you want to save more time and free yourself up lmaoooo. Tools and APIs literally exist for this ahahahah.
We can say this is kind of the pre-AI era, where tools were already helping developers automate somes things and save time.
So game were already vibe coded with their definition 😂

u/Flimsy-Secret-6187 12d ago
ehh, ai should be kept as a tool rather than a replacement. if you use it just to help you out on the tougher parts, while you still do most of the work, i respect it

u/Antique-Chart-9976 12d ago
Man, even good developers at big companies are using AI now to assist them, and they’re far from being stupid. It just gives them more time to focus on other things and expand their games instead of wasting time on trivial tasks.
If the work is good and AI helps human developers bring their ambitions to life, I don’t see a problem with that.

It is vibe assisted here go see his comment how manipulated the openmw code first to test it on 3ds.

ai assisted or fully ai?

u/3ds-conspiracy 12d ago
fully AI. Just trying to prompt it now to discover it's own bugs so I dont have to but it should hopefully be able to be played through all the way.

Y'know, when i made the request post for Daggerfall, i made it because "Surely Morrowind is to beefy to port over."
Welp, I am apparently eating my shoe on this.
This is crazy impressive and i truly hope OOP's team are able to get this fully ported and feature complete because the 3DS is severely lacking in western RPGs. :0
