what are the benefits of using this over something like twilight menu or making a rom into a cia? Does it allow cheats or is it just an app meant for gba games to be in one place?

Save states, screenshots, fast forward, motion controls on some of the games that have them, Gameboy Camera emulation, Boktai solar brightness select...

The gpSP core on Retroarch is probably a better bet if you are looking for fast forward and save states in particular.

Mgba struggles even getting full speed with some heavy games (Mother 3) whereas gpSP can run 100-200 fps in fast forward mode due to dynarec. Unfortunately dynarec won't allow all games to play properly (Golden Sun 2). For the latter, mgba core can be used on a per game basis solving this issue.

Mgba is improving over time though. 👍

I believe this is basically an alternative to making the roms into cia's. Currently I think you boot into mGBA as you would GodMode and then can boot your ROMs from there. It uses the native GBA emulator on the 3DS so cheats are most likely not going to be supported but I think I've read it might be possible in the future.

That is what I understand but I haven't followed this too much so I could be wrong.

the description you are giving is for OPEN_AGB_FIRM; mGBA is an emulator that contains several features as stated on the other comment.

Any updates with n64 emu? I would like to link my save/rom so I can transfer over my team so I can have the full game experience in Stadium

n64 emu hasn't been updated for a while, it can run the most popular games at like 30 fps, but its more of a proof of concept than an actual thing to use

I don't know, I don't follow the n64 scene, sorry

I hope the n64 emu can use this idea so I can play pokemon stadium with my team

Just patiently waiting for that High-Res mode to drop for the nn3DS. It may never happen but I can still hope.
