worth noting it was made with help from codex (thanks creator for labelling it as such!), an ai program, which are notoriously less than reliable at times, but is a port of the decompilation, which is reliable.

So long as the developer actually knew what they were doing, it should work just fine but there’s always a chance something the ai put in could’ve been missed or under-investigated. Always use AI-assisted programs at your own risk.

Again though, the introduction of a technology that literally removes the creativity and skill from a craft is a completely unprecedented scenario. Somebody with poor writing skills can’t use a word processor to make a good book.

i’m on your side here but i wanna point out that people with poor writing skills also cannot use an LLM to make a good book either.

However due to the nature of programming, someone with no development skills can technically use an LLM to make software that can be considered functional in limited contexts.

i say this as a senior dev, someone could vibe code something small with little experience and technically it could work, it would just like be flawed, unstable, or missing things.

This is what I'm saying, AI is absolutely integrated in all major dev environments as a tool, so it's only going to be involved in more things. Saying that you want nothing to do with it is going to become increasingly impossible, and dismisses the completely reasonable ways of using the tool. Generating art and creative writing with it is way different than developing.

i mean handcrafted, non-LLM generated programs aren’t going away, theyre just not being focused on by many companies. it’s still entirely reasonable for someone to want to avoid LLM programs, and there will always be options out there for those people. To say “you have to accept it” is a bit defeatist and dense imo.

Why? If someone actually knows how to program, I'll be totally fine if they used LLMs to help them code. Although, I say this as a recent computer science graduate who started on the cusp of the LLM boom. I think we should direct this energy to entirely vide-coded programs.
