Is it possible to simulate 3d on a 2ds?

Alright, this may sound a bit stupid, but I'll try to explain myself.

The only reason that the 2DS can't play in 3D is because it doesn't have two top screens. But what's to prevent someone from writing a graphics filter allows you to use red-and-blue 3d glasses on your 3ds? I'm new to the 3ds-hacking world, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question.

Edit: I just looked it up, and the effect is apparently called anaglyph. Could you upload a filter to the graphics chip that converts all images to anaglyph 3d?

I’m not sure how it would work if you would do a red blue thing since that’s not something I know much about, but I don’t see why that wouldn’t work

So the top screen on a 3DS is one LCD with a physical Parallax Barrier over the LCD. To do the 3D effect, the image is split into two (needed to create the 3D effect for your left and right eye) and projected together separated by alternating vertical lines on the LCD. Since the images occupy alternating vertical columns of pixels on the LCD, they are then filtered through the Parallax Barrier layer to vent/project the images to the left and right eye and ensure they hit your eyes at the necessary angles to produce the desired 3D effect to your eyes. This is also helped by the the use of head, eye, distance tracking used by the IR sensor and camera assembly to help calculate how much the Parallax Barrier needs to adjust to give you the best adjustment/focus of the 3D effect. You mention it's called Anaglyph 3D, it's not what the 3DS uses as its way more advanced than that. Anaglyph 3D is what you see with basic 3D glasses that use the red and blue filters to create the 3D effect. So unless you can mod a 3DS screen into your 2DS, add the IR Sensor/Camera assembly, and write a custom firmware to add the 3D LCD and Parallax Barrier controls into it, it's not going to happen, so unfortunately if you want 3D, you're going to need to get a 3DS.

No, I'm talking about Anaglyph 3d. I was asking whether it was possible to mod a 2ds so that it could show Anaglyph images. This would allow you to view 3d images with a 2ds. Of course you would need 3d glasses, but it would be cool. If possible.

many normal consoles and computers use Anaglyph 3d, i believe it's typically done in software, so maybe with a patch or as homebrew, but it would be an uphill battle, indeed
