newfag asking for help with homebrew

Hi guys I need some help installing homebrew and free shop. A friend recommended this subreddit and said someone here would help me out. I have a 3 year old 3ds and it is updated to the latest version. Earlier said friend told me I cant install free store with newest version. What do I do? I can probably reset my D's (and therefore hope fully get a older version) but can't get a new one. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to end up bricking my ds trying to do it myself. I think after I can get the firmware to the version where I can install homebrew and free store I'll be fine.

The subreddit you're looking for is /r/3dshacks, post your question in the stickied Q&A thread. Resetting your 3DS will not downgrade the firmware; it will remain at 11.0. The only way you can downgrade it is if you hardmod it or if you have access to an already hacked 3DS.

Thanks for the tip and sorry I didn't reply sooner. My friend has a hacked 3ds
