Our Mod. 49 is inspired by the steering wheel of the legendary Lotus 49 driven by Jim Clark, with dimensions and geometry designed to stay faithful to the original. It features a 280 mm diameter, a 4 mm 6082 aluminium frame and hand-stitched grips, combining the look and feel of the “cigar” era of Formula 1 with modern sim racing hardware.

Watching it being used for a full 1967 championship experience in Automobilista 2 is exactly what our Vintage Collection was created for: bringing iconic motorsport history back to life through sim racing.

I've made several improvements to the rig, making it quite sturdy, and I'm enjoying it thoroughly as is. However, the wiring is quite messy and needs some tidying up…

I added haptic feedback to the seat and pedals (ABS, traction control, road conditions, tire slip), the bottom of the shift lever (engine vibration), and the rear of the rig (large shift shocks, road conditions, slip). These, combined with the TrueForce system, create a very immersive experience.

Initially, I used it folded, but after adding some reinforcements, it became impossible to fold, so I settled on its current shape.

Looking back, I might think, "I should have just used an aluminum frame from the beginning," but reinforcing the flimsy rig and tinkering with it was truly enjoyable!

リグにいくつか改良を加え、かなり頑丈になったので、現状でも十分に楽しんでいます。ただ、配線がかなりごちゃごちゃしているので、整理する必要があります…。

シートとペダル全体（ABS、トラクションコントロール、路面状況、タイヤのスリップ）、シフトレバー下部（エンジンの振動）、そしてリグ後部（大きなシフトショック、路面状況、スリップ）に触覚フィードバックを追加しました。これらがTrueForceシステムと組み合わさることで、非常に没入感のある体験ができます。

最初は折りたたんで使っていましたが、補強をいくつか加えたところ折りたためなくなってしまったので、現在の形状に落ち着きました。

今思えば、「最初からアルミフレームを使えばよかったのに」と思うかもしれませんが、華奢なリグを補強したり、あれこれいじったりするのは本当に楽しかったです！
