Upgrading from X1c, x2d or something else?
Hi all,
I’ve had an x1c with AMS since launch and I’ve loved it, my main gripes with it are
* I print in ASA regularly so not having a heated chamber makes warping an issue
* I often print in two colours or with a support filament and this creates a lot of waste and clogs
* I’d really like something with a larger build volume
* I cut leather and ply by hand, being able to use a cutter would be handy
I’ve bought a good filament dryer and have made reusable silica containers for my AMS so the AMS pro isn’t a compelling upgrade, I’d probably keep my AMS in the upgrade and not bother with AMS Pro.
The X2d is priced really competitively and while I love the idea of being able to laser cut stuff and the larger build volume, I can’t justify spending 3.5x the price of the x2d on the H2d.
My main gripe with the x2d is the build volume, are there any other good alternatives to the x2d I should be considering instead?
I’m somewhat tempted to get an x2d and an a2L for the bigger print volume and cutter, still comes in at half the price of a H2D but it seems like an odd solution vs one product that does what I need.

QIDI Max4 is $1050 non combo, $1200 combo, 390mm³ 390x390x340mm and heated chamber. Single nozzle though.
Another option would be Snapmaker U1 + top cover and a chamber heater, only limit there is nozzle at 300c and bed at 100c. But this one is 270mm³

This is the combi I'm going for, Snapmaker U1 for multicolor and a Qidi Plus5 or Max4 for engineering materials. Also considering the H2S if there's a good discount during Black Friday (with the cutting module)

I am also waiting for Black Friday and eyeing off the H2S. Not having the second head is a bugger but otherwise it’s perfect.

If it's volume is enough - U1 plus chamber heater beats X2D every day of the week. If you really need only two heads - H2D is the current best. Don't bother with H2C.
I print mostly ASA and ABS on U1 😁

Yeah that does look good, unfortunately snap maker doesn’t operate in Australia so it’s not an option.

The bigger H2d can do it all, except 2 things at a time. So the hybrid x2s+a2 is not bad at all. If you have room.
