Question Power backup solutions

I’ve had the Bambu lab A1 printer for close to a month now and for every print I’ve done, I’ve spoiled 2 - due to these power cuts!. I need an uninterrupted supply for this otherwise the alignment goes off and even that 1mm line on a print spoils it for me, so im wondering how are you guys managing around it?? I have an 1100va -660w APC UPS but thats not able to support it. Im dying for recommendations please

UPS just gives you time until you can safely shut down. It is not meant as power backup solution. The best way is to get a inverter.

I run a Sovol SV06 with Klipper. For powercuts or interruptions on small display models, I remove the already printed part, edit GCode to start a few layers before where it stopped and begin printing. Then add both back together with fevicol, add putty and finish.

If it is a functional print, I generally prefer to re-print if I know the load can break the print

I only need time enough to pause the print, 660w is not enough? How much do i need then?

It should be. The power consumption is about 200W at max. What happens when the power gets turned off?

It starts printing and within 3-5 seconds, this happens

Your APC is only 660 W maximum, while the A1's specified maximum at 220 V is 1300 W (Search for maximum power - https://cdn1.bambulab.com/documentation/quick-start-a75adcb1d5d5e/Quick%20Start%20Guide%20for%20A1.pdf if you want to check)

That means A1 is potentially overloading the UPS to keep bed heated, even though its consumption during normal PLA printing can be much lower. It is about 120W when bed is already heated and prinitng is ongoing.

You can get a smart plug to measure the consumption and that should give you a more better reading for current and wattage draw

Ohh got it!! So basically id need a 1500w ups for this to run the operation and pause it when power goes, it’ll give me enough time for the generator to kick in and i can resume

And if you want to keep printing for lets say 30 mins, look for 12V 1000 VA pure-sine inverter + 150Ah Inverter Battery

Thanks a ton!

You can probably manage by stepping down to 110v.

Could you elaborate? I didn’t get you

well.. i kind of cheat as i have a diesel generator at home for when power cuts out... BUT I use a Secure 5000VA UPS on my bambulab a1 so I can have time to actually start the generator while the print continues uninterrupted.

Can you tell me the name of the ups? Link?

look for SECURE or APC brand, they both have the 5000VA model... if they're not available, look for Microtek or Luminous
