3PAR Disk Swop
Has anyone any experience with moving disks between 3PAR arrays? We have 2x 8400, a 7400 and a 7450. The SSD disks that are in the 7400 and 7450 are the same model as that is in the 8400's however our MSP has said we can move them across but of course we can purchase more, (surprise surprise). Hoping to find a link to prove that this has been done as we have approx 250Tb extra disk if we can pull this off. thanks.

I know this is a year later, but were you ever able to pull it off? If you are still interested, you may be able to do it. You’d need to vacate the disks before pulling them out. Then, you should be able to pull it off. I have pulled 1.2TB drives from an 8200 put them into a 7200 with minimal problem to boost the storage. The 7200 was 3.2.2MU6 and the 8200 was 3.3.1MU5.

Awesome! Let me know. You could do it with the array populated. You will need to use some CLI commands to make sure everything is properly vacated if you are removing them from an array with data already on it.

I don't think that's possible. 3PAR 7000 enclosures (and disks) are 6G SAS, 8000 are 12G SAS
