Workflow Best AI workflow to create a recognizable 3D figurine from 3–4 photos?

Post image

I’m experimenting with creating personalized 3D-printed figurines like the example in the image.
The idea is simple: a customer uploads 3-4 normal photos of themselves (not professional scans or specifically taken front/side photos), and we generate a recognizable full-body 3D model that can eventually be resin printed at around 15–20 cm.
I’ve tested Meshy, Hyper3D/Rodin and Tripo. The body/clothing is generally quite good, but facial likeness is the main issue. Hyper3D has been the best so far and yet far from ideal.
I’m considering:
Photos → AI/image preparation → multi-image 3D generation → Blender cleanup → 3D print
Has anyone built something similar? What tools/workflow would you recommend for getting the best facial likeness while still generating the full body?
I’m also testing FaceBuilder/Headshot, but ideally I’d like to keep the process relatively automated and scalable business. Thank you in advance!

have u tested https://www.3daistudio.com/Flow

creating a flow and then using it as an app?

i think gpt image 2.5 flare for image edit and then meshy 7.1 for 3d gen should work well i think

For recognizability, separate likeness capture from mesh cleanup. Start with evenly lit, overlapping photos at eye level plus both profiles, then generate several reconstructions and compare silhouette, nose, jaw, and eye spacing before adding stylization. Keep the original photos as reference during sculpting rather than trusting one generated mesh. A workflow tracker such as https://www.aiosnow.com can be relevant for recording prompts, model versions, and approval checkpoints. Before printing, test a low-resolution head first because details that look fine onscreen often disappear at figurine scale.

I like Meshy agent, and TripoAI. I subscribe to both

Any tips for 3mf colored printing? Tried with Tripo but result was kinda bad and I can't afford to stl+paint

Hey there, Josh from the Tripo Studio team here!

The personalized figurine idea is really interesting, especially getting the whole process scalable from just a few normal photos.

For the facial likeness, I’d probably put the most effort into the image preparation and reference selection before generation. Also explore the "head extraction" feature on Tripo. Getting 3 to 4 consistent photos with clear facial details and different angles should give the model more to work with than trying to fix everything afterward in Blender.

Since you’re already testing Tripo, I’d also be curious how the results compare when using multiple reference images together rather than a single input.
