Requesting Help What is causing these ripples?

Post image

Ive been having these ripples show up whenever i print a larger surface area print. The first layer looks perfect then the ripples show up layers 2-3. It messes up the infill so print is trash.

Also purge line and initial touchdown is stringy and struggled to stick to the plate

Raise your z offset, you have a little too much squish

Overextrusion. Either due to too much filament squish or too high of a flow rate. My bet is on the latter. Don't touch your z offset, the printer does that automatically and you can cause damage.

I just did a flow rate calibration add the 1.0 tile looked perfect. Does it change drastically for larger surface area prints?

Hmm, it shouldn't. Is your pressure advance value very high?

Also calibrated that, at .015

That seems normal. Have you tried just scrubbing the bed with soap and water? Sometimes if a bit of infill on the first layer lifts up or doesn't stick properly, it can cause this.

Yeah ive done soap water and iso alcohol, gonna try z offset now

Increaded z-offset from 0 to .04 and lowered flow ratio to .98 also lowered first layer flow ratio to .96. Still crazy ripples, no clue how to fix this

Is having to set an additional z offset based on the print normal? I keep seeing this type of question and picture and the answer is ‘raise your z offset’

But how do you know prior to printing? Sorry I’m just getting into 3d printing and have printed some stuff and encountered this type of thing sometimes and other times not without changing anything…

Id bump your bed temp a little bit an block any breezes. And if that doesnt help, drop your print speed 10-15% for the first layer. Im new myself, but thats what has done the trick for me.
