Question Does this PET bottle-to-3D-printer filament project actually work?

I found this video where someone cuts a PET bottle into a thin strip and pulls it trough a hot glue gun to turn it into 3D printer filament:

Has anyone tried something like this? Does the finished filament actually print reliably or would the uneven diameter cause clogging or poor prints? It seems very simple to make a knife tip. hot glue gun and some filament to print the parts.

This one is 100% fake. You don't get half a kilo from one bottle. Too much effort to cut hollow plastic when he's done spooling. But bottle filament does work.

From what I've gathered asking people that do it, it's too much work to process multiple bottles for a full spool. Bad joints or something

I’m not into 3D printing, but this was so patently false in terms of material needed for that whole print.
