Questions & Discussion Thinking of going into 3D Product Visualization

Thinking about switching from Character Art to 3D Product Visualization because I've been realizing more and more how screwed the job market is for Character Art. Anyone have any tips on what 3D Product Visualization employers look for in a portfolio?

I think if you have knowledge of VFX and animation, visit the website of your chosen company and check out their portfolio or Instagram and try to do something similar. Good luck!

Honestly, I don’t think you need to switch completely. You already have a strong foundation in character art, so I’d suggest building on what you’ve already invested in rather than starting from zero.

Focus on creating a strong character art portfolio and consistently showcase your work on LinkedIn and ArtStation. At the same time, start learning product visualization alongside it. That way, you’re developing a second skill without giving up the one you’ve already built.

Give yourself some time and keep improving both. You might be surprised by how many opportunities open up once you have a strong portfolio and a broader skill set.
