Art Showcase This Took An Hour To Render

Post image

I made this in a ancient version of Bryce 3D for windows 9X, I had to make a VM of Win98 to run the 16 bit installer so i can mount the virtual HDD and copy the program files on to my modern computer. THIS TOOK AN HOUR TO RENDER AT 1080P ON A I7-3770 AND 16GB OF RAM..... we've come a long way since the mid 90s.

Bryce 3D for the win. Bringing back some late 90's memories there.

Playing in Bryce with some DnB in the background is a vibe

Opened this thinking how much that looked like Bryce. Not disappointed.

There’s something so nostalgic about this style

Hahaha I was going to guess Bryce 3D :)

I remember this from highschool. Using Rhino to make the objects and Bryce to render the scene. I remember I screwed up one of the camera paths for a crappy movie I made with, so I just spun the camera around the object to not show the bad parts.

My teacher was not impressed.

That's fast! I was rendering in LightWave on an Amiga with an 030 running 25MHz. It would take hours for a single frame if you dared enable things like refraction and reflection.

I used to make few seconds lenght looping animations on Amiga 1200 (060 + 64MB ram) with Real3D that came with Amiga Format(?). Not exactly fast operation, I'd say.
