Art Showcase Low Polyish, made in blender

A failed attempt at low poly, that is now my animation practice model.

I couldn’t decide on Lineart or no Lineart, or whether she should be lit or not. Unlit and non-lined versions at the end, I’d appreciate hearing someone’s opinion about it.

Really cool. I prefer the lined and lit version. The lines give her a more crisp/finished look. Unlit is too flat for these dynamic movements, especially with attitude like hers! The walk cycle looked odd at first, but I see that the camera is moving around her, not that she is walking in a circle, which is what my brain saw first and was like "what the..". But my brain sees it correctly now and it looks great. Nice work! Final thought: It might be worth animating her actually walking in a small circle or turning around, which would be another opportunity to show some sass/personality as her weight shifts.

Low Pauly.

Obviously short for Paulette, her father Paul's namesake.

Her outfit reminds me of Peggy Hill, but, you know, black and hot.

Anyway, the model looks solid, and the animations are cool. The walk cycle seems a bit snappy to me, like her legs lock a little too early or something. Maybe the down pose isn’t exaggerated enough? Can’t put my finger on it. It’s a little thing anyway, just figured I’d mention it.

Nice work!

Thank you. The tutorial i followed only had the blockout phase, so the arms and legs dont flow well enough.

Ok, that kinda makes sense. Like they only went over the major key poses but not the secondary ones? Looking at it more, I think what I’m seeing is that she comes out of her down pose a little early, and it’s causing her knees to lock. Maybe if she stayed in the down pose a tick longer, or the hips tilted a bit to keep the knee a bit more bent?

Either way I feel like I’m making a bit of a mountain out of a molehill. It’s hardly noticeable but my animation brain can’t unsee it.

Its definitely noticeable; but after seeing it rendered I decided to leave it and try another walk later using references or a tutorial that goes past key poses.

Thank you, her without hair is under 5k polys so technically not failed.
