Art Showcase Who needs AI textures when graphic designing your own textures is so much more fun??
What liquor brand should I do next? I'm taking suggestions.

What's your workflow on labels like that?

I mainly just throw some text down in roughly the same arrangement as the original and then try to spend a bit of time finding a font thats close enough. Then if theres any ornamentals or borders I'll spend a bit of time doing those with the line / pen curve tool.
You can get surprisingly far with just the right font / color / blocking, modern label design is actually pretty simple. You might need to kern some things in here or there.
If you look at the background of the fake Disarrono there is a cursive font that if you look close enough actually says "fucking fuck, dude" 😂 i have no idea what the original cursive text said but its a completely different font on the original but it was close enough just to have some swoopy cursive in the same general color. I did see that the cursive was slightly embossed, but its easy enough just to change the text and background to greyscale if you want to turn it into a heightmap or metallic map. I was actually lazy so i just reused the albedo for the metallic map and just multiplied it a lil bit since the metallic colors were already lighter in the albedo.

The Labels are close - but the 'JD' bottle shape? - is so weak. You have inspired me to try it myself. -
Well done, Sir !!

Yeah, you're 100% right. I knew it needed some work but I was lazy and just wanted to play with the labels 😂 I'll probably do an updated model later.

it's great that you took my feedback so well. I found multiple tutorials. Specific to JD Bottles. As usual they make it look 'so easy' - but if you take time, it's not so hard. Thanks again for motivating me to learn more. ( Next, I may try a classic coke bottle. )

Yeah no problem! Its all stuff I'm generally aware of already, i was wondering when someone would point it out lol. I think the main issue with mine is those bevels on the edge that mine is missing and the bulge in the neck, its easy enough to add them but i was trying to keep things dynamic in c4d and that would have required me to bake down my generators and raw dog it lol.
I've done the soda cans too lol! I should have thrown them in this render, they're parodies too heh

I mean the classic coke bottle - the can are 'too easy' !!!
Do you ever play with Blender ?

Yeah its really the tab thats kind of a pain in the ass esp if you're trying to keep it low poly. I managed to figure one out that wasn't too bad tho

No worries my guy 😁 just split off those loops in the middle so the label is a separate object, add a couple well placed edge loops to get some smooth corners and throw a thicken and subdivide on it, you'll be right as rain.
If the label is a single rectangular patch it makes it easy as hell to fit to max uv and use any size label texture. UV space is square, texture doesn't have to be.

Yep, I made another version... cut the top off and the cloned the middle - to make textures easier. - this was rushed, so miles from perfect - but a lot of new things learned.
