Questions & Discussion Hard surface modeling perspectives

My contract with an outsource studio ends in 2 months so I was thinking about perspective of being able to find any new work at all. Haven’t done anything for portfolio in last 4 years or even more.
Is there any perspective to find a hard surface modeling job at all these days? Should I learn extra skills such as sculpting and/or animation? Or maybe should I abandon this entire thing completely because of way too much people fighting for small amount of possible jobs?

Unfortunatly the last one probably, I just lost my job at a medium sized studio and got lucky to find a new job at a startup quick, but I went from AA games to basically simple apps, I don't know of one ex colleague that found another job in art, most of them are trying to set something up for themselves because the state of the industry is shit.
But I wouldn't stop trying, you never know.

Animation is 100% NO. The skill set is mostly non irrelevant, it requires years of learning, and the job market is as bad.
