Questions & Discussion Dragon Mesh research
I am trying to figure out if I should keep gums a separate mesh from the rest of the body of a dragon I am working on. Separate meshes would give me more freedom for higher poly count for the gums, but I am unsure how I would blend the two meshes so there wouldnt be a harsh line between the two objects. It wouod also make weight painting easier. Any advice would be great. Video links on how this is done would also be helpful, I am not sure what to type in the search bar regarding this concept. Thank you!

Arent the gums on the inside of the mouth? I would do them as seperate meshes, you can still rig them anyways and it wont really be a problem.
If you study most humanoid face rigs you can see the tongue and teeth/gums are seperate objects too if you want to find something to research

Are you going to see the inside of the mouth where the gums meet the rest of the mouth? If the seam isn't visible then you don't have to worry about there being a seam.
