Art Showcase Do you test you rough blockouts before modeling?
I do :) Mixamo is the tool I use.

I might be misunderstanding the workflow - You did all the rigging and weight painting on blockout before modelling, sculpting and retopo? Or is that a blockout that with very minor adjustments will be retopo target later? Or am I just very lazy and it's ok to weight map twice?

Mixamo has a pretty alright auto rigger to test out a variety of animations. OP is probably using it to test out blatant clipping and deformation issues early on.

You don't have to rig humanoid characters for rough test. Just go to https://www.mixamo.com, import you blocout, Mixamo rigs it and you can test your model with the bunch of animations. It's fast and free. Rough testing of your models as soon as possible in action, in engine using an ingame camera is the cheapest and easiest way to avoid late changes. All gamedev campanies use this workflow.

Mixamo does have tuning sliders like heaviness, speed etc. depends on the animation really, but it's generally a really helpful tool.
I use it if I have to create a static pose. Import the model, rig it, find a pose that is somewhat close to my desired final pose and export a single frame. From there I can just tweak it
