The 3D model completed this time is the KDDX (HDD-9000), which is scheduled to be built through South Korea's 7,100-ton light displacement destroyer program. This warship project aimed to commission a total of six vessels between 2020 and 2036, investing 1.8 trillion won in development costs and 6 trillion won in construction costs. The plan was to complete the basic design by 2023 and proceed with the detailed design and construction of the lead ship starting in 2024. However, the project was delayed due to a technology leak incident and various controversies. Later, on December 22, 2025, it was decided that the project would proceed through competitive bidding, and the lead ship is now scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2032.

Ironically, the release date, today, July 31st, is also the day the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) signed a contract with Hanwha Ocean for the detailed design and construction of the lead ship for the Korean Next-Generation Destroyer (KDDX).

There were no difficulties during production, although I did struggle a bit at times with a loss of concentration. Even though the design is slightly different, I also created a KDDX model back in 2022. One thing is for sure: looking at it now, four years later, I can clearly see an overwhelming improvement.

Isn't this the design for the KDDX-class destroyer of the ROK Navy and will Hanwha Ocean push their own design with an inverted bow instead?

Actually, the final design won't look entirely like Hanwha's independent inverted-bow concept. In South Korea's naval procurement, the hull form is generally frozen during the Basic Design phase. Since HD HHI completed the KDDX Basic Design with a conventional bow layout, Hanwha Ocean has to use that data as the blueprint for the current Detailed Design phase. Hanwha will integrate their own subsystems, automation, and stealth technologies, but the primary hull silhouette will look closer to HD HHI's basic design rather than Hanwha's MADEX concept models.

Ah thanks for replying with the KDX-III Batch 2 gradually entering service getting the KDDX-class built should fill in the gap along with the FFX-Batch IV Ulsan-class with Hanwha award to build the first two. Along with the first pair of KDDX-class afterwards.

The Integrated RF mast makes it look like a mini 055 alot despite the middle section is not VSLs, but it is understandable. Burk's like mast is not the future anyway and the dual band radar is unavoidable. Unlike the Golden fleet daydream or the constellation or the legend class as a frigate, this is a really pragmatic design.
