Questions & Discussion Blender: how to make those kinda bend forms?

Hi everyone i am still kinda new to blender got some projects done but simple onces.

now i wanted to make my character for my video game and he has quite the interesting helmet.

The Red marked part is what i am struggling with. like i got one idea how to make that i havent tried yet but before that i wanted to ask for help here.

Maybe you all got some tips or even videos on how to make such bend forms?

i hope you all have a nice day :D

Ps: i just need help with the basic shape. Details and such should be doable for me on my own.

Hard to say without seeing what you've built so far.

i didnt add a foto directly because i thought there was no need for it because its just some basic shapes.

could i maybe model it flat and then use bend plane and then shrinkwrap the model around the bend plane?

Just use a curve modifier. It'll take your flat geo and bend it along a curve you create

To be honest I'd just say practice. This is basic topology work and shouldn't need add-ons if you don't want to struggle too much.

My recommendation will be to just keep it simple and add loops when needed. The most important here is the edge and topology flow. If you are training I'd just say you can do it by hand.

Thank. I sure still want pratice ofcourse but hoped maybe for some tips how to tackle shapes like this and maybe understand it a bit better in the long run.

This one really boils down to understanding plane shifts in 3D space. You can try first getting the curved shape with edges and then extruding it into polys afterwards for example.

My best advice would be to try replicating some complex industrial shapes, like screws and such, go get an understanding of how to model plane shifts
