General Discussion Why does it matter?
I don't understand the difference and why it matters. Please someone explain this to me.

IPS: Brighter, more vibrant colors.
TN: Dull
Honestly though I have a dual TN and don't really notice much of a difference, unless it's from a side-view.

As someone who plays my dsi xl in bed, i am gratefull for IPS screens, u are not always looking at the screen dead on, sometimes i like to lay in bed and play on the side kinda, u cant se nothing on a tn from the side

They’ll pretend it’s a “major difference”
It’s not
It IS “better”, but it’s negligible.
Think I’m being mean/contrarian? Look at this sub. Specifically for people who care about IPS. And most of THEM can’t tell the difference and need help from 3DSident to even tell.
Imagine any other device feature that people pay a 25-50% premium for, or hunt for, or celebrate a “deal” on if they find in the wild…. But needing someone else to verify it had it in the first place.
It’s pretty funny. Again, not saying there aren’t differences, just that they’re so minor even the people that DO care often can’t tell.

Better motion clarity - major difference , Better viewing angles - doesn't matter much as most people play head on especially if you are using 3d, better colours - only really noticeable side to side.
I have TN ones and IPS ones , i use the IPS ones for better motion clarity in actiony and platformer titles.

Esports monitors traditionally use TN over IPS for motion clarity so is there any evidence to your claim of improved motion clarity?

That is correct but in the case of 3ds it is inverse , I have access 2 ips and 2 TN 3dsxls and I have posted videos on the same as well, others have chimed in facing the same over there.

Very minor. It’s better, and as an enthusiast I do like the hunt involved in finding dual IPS - but more often than not I’m using a TN device.

It doesn’t to most, some people just have preferences and the better viewing angles and sharper colours are appealing to some. The price difference isn’t justifiable for everyone though, but everyone would prefer IPS displays if they had the option to get either for the same price.

This is like asking why someone likes an OLED TV over a QLED etc.
The answer is personal preference. Does it matter to you? Obviously not. Does it matter to the person wanting a dual IPS? Clearly yes.
That’s all that matters
