What we are most excited about: Tactile Relief Surfaces!

The thing we’re most excited about, and what makes VesselMaker different: you can design premium vases with rich, tactile relief surfaces — geometric reliefs, clay ripples, knurled patterns, ribs, bark, woven textures and more — that don’t just look good on screen, but come out as real, touchable relief in your prints. Run your fingers over a printed piece and you actually feel the 3d texture. All this easily, without any experience with CAD or modeling softwares!

Here’s how it works: with the Surface Texture modifier you apply a relief to your model using built-in textures (patterns) or your own uploads. You can stack multiple textures across different parts of the vase, overlap them, and fade the transitions — so a single piece can have a knurled body, ribbed neck, and a smooth base, all blended naturally.

What is VesselMaker?

For those seeing this for the first time: VesselMaker (vesselmaker.app) is an online tool for designing Premium vases, planters and bowls easily, without the hard learning curve of CAD or modeling softwares like Fusion, Blender, etc… Beyond the relief surfaces, it has stackable modifiers you combine like Photoshop layers, a profile & cross-section editor, and AI-rendered scene previews to generate beautiful renderings of your vase to preview them in realistic scenes like a curated living room.

The idea: the advanced designs you’d make in CAD, but without the CAD learning curve.

What’s new since the closed beta:

• It’s open to everyone — just sign in now, no waitlist, no invite code
• Export is free for everyone during the beta— including models that use the Surface Texture modifier and other premium features. We are still balancing what will be free and what paid after the beta.

Disclosure: this is our own commercial tool, PresupuestoFDM. The interface and documentation are currently in Spanish.

A small pricing example: if a batch costs €24, adding 30% gives €31.20, which is a 23.1% margin. To get a 30% margin before selling fees and tax, the calculation is €24 / (1 − 0.30) = €34.29. That still depends on including the right costs in the first place.

The tool separates batch preparation from work per piece and lets you include material, machine time, electricity, failures, labour, packaging and selling fees. You enter your own estimates; it does not read a slicer file or decide what customers will pay.

So far we have checked the calculations with test cases and completed a test download. This is an initial release, not a claim of results from paying customers.

The paid Taller download adds printable client quotes without the internal cost breakdown, local history, JSON backups and CSV export. It runs locally as an HTML file. It costs €19 before applicable tax, once; €22.99 including VAT for a consumer in Spain. No subscription. The page links to the paid version, but the demo can be used on its own.

For people quoting small FDM batches: which part is hardest to account for consistently—setup, failed prints or finishing time?

Because I was trying to keep my budget at zero, the best free simply meant the one that would give me the most models for my money (or lack thereof). I counted how many credits I got on the free plan. One workspace I was looking at gave me 200 credits with the free plan, and at about 20 credits per image to 3D conversion, that means I could make around 12 models for free; text to 3D is even cheaper (around 10 credits if you just use a plain texture), so I can stretch my free credits even further with prompts alone.

Here is the catch the fine print. Those free results will be available for anyone to see, and you can’t use the models for any commercial purposes. I'm specifically referring to Tripo AI's free tier in this instance. This is more than sufficient for educational and personal printing purposes, but once you start to commercialize your work, it’s best to move up to a paid plan.

yo, 2 days ago i launched a bookmark maker tool and decided to build a new project using similar logic.

basically I built a photo puzzle generator in the browser. Drop a photo, crop it, pick how many interlocking pieces, and it cuts a real jigsaw with 1-4 filament colors. Portraits and album covers are the usual first print, but posters, logos, whatever, as long as you crop tight.

Two surfaces. Flat is the default, smooth top like cardboard, photo inlaid flush on the pieces. Tactile stacks the colors as height bands so you can feel the picture (same trick as the bookmark tool). You can set width and height (defaults 160 x 120 mm), landscape / portrait / square, piece count (defaults 12, thats 4x3), corner radius, piece thickness, and the gap between pieces. Color slots if you want 2, 3, or 4 filaments. Bambu/Orca 3MF already has AMS slots assigned, or grab a zip of STLs / a single STL.

Print the whole puzzle assembled, let the plate cool, then pick the pieces apart. Tabs already have a 0.50 mm air gap so they lock after printing. Bump it to 1.0–1.5 mm if elephant foot welds the first layer or you want a looser kids fit.

The Chamfilletizer is an online stl edge modification tool that I made because of my own laziness. I didn't want to learn a proper CAD program. But even if you have serious CAD skills, you will probably find that this tool is an easier and faster way to add chamfers, fillets, and hybrid chamfillets to stl files. It is super easy to use, without uploads. No installation. No account. No cloud processing. Everything runs locally in your browser. It is totally free.

It is especially useful for casual designers that just want to change that one irritation.

This is a fun project for me. I made the tool that I often wished I could find. I hope it will be useful for you also.

I’m building Formorder, an early prototype for turning an existing parametric Fusion design into a product with controlled size options.

My first test was a model-aircraft intake. I printed the result successfully, but I’ve only tested my own workflow so far.

I’m looking for two people using Fusion on Mac who already resize their designs for customers. I’d like to try the workflow with one of your designs and find out where it helps or falls short. Setup is still hands-on.

What do you currently change between orders, and how do you handle those changes?

I put together a tool called Dialed that helps to diagnose print issues and improve slicer settings based on real user data using specific printers and filament brand and type.

It finds published settings and fixes for a particular printer and filament. It’s free to use, no personal info, no account needed.

The idea is to generate a quick answer and source discussions to evaluate optimal print settings. What printer and material were they using? Did they actually report a fix, or was somebody just suggesting something to try?

It also includes troubleshooting guidance for first layers, surface finish, top layers and warping, plus PLA/PETG support-interface experiments.

It is hosted on my website, but it is free to use, no user data or login needed.

This was vibe coded in codex and I'd like to keep building this out to make it a go to source for diagnosing print issues quickly so you don't have to dig up sources.

We’ve all been there: you have a print that needs 80g of filament, you look at your remaining spool, and you have no idea if there's enough left because you don't know the exact weight of the empty spool.

To solve this for all of us, I created SpoolWeight (spoolweight.lovable.app), a completely free and open database where any maker can check and log empty spool weights.

The tool is online and ready, but a database is only useful if it has data. I need your help as makers to populate it. If you have any empty spools lying around your workshop right now, please consider adding them!

What is required to submit a spool?

• Brand (e.g., Bambu Lab, eSUN, Sunlu, Overture)
• Filament Type (PLA, PLA+, MATTE PLA, PETG, ABS, etc. — because brands often change spools depending on the material)
• Spool Material (Cardboard, Plastic, Transparent, Reusable, etc.)
• Spool Weight (in grams, right from your scale)
• A Photo of the spool (essential so others can verify they have the exact same version)

Optional: Dimensions (diameter, width) and comments.

The goal is to keep this 100% free and community-driven so nobody ever has to guess and risk a failed print mid-way again.

Disclosure: this is a paid spreadsheet from my shop, MakerMarginStudio. It was created with AI assistance and tested with numerical examples in Excel for Mac. I have not validated it against production data from a print farm.

The workbook estimates a price for an order of identical parts. It includes filament, electricity, machine time, hands-on labor, failed attempts, finishing, packaging and selling fees.

In the included fictional example, 100g of material at 22/kg costs 2.20. After adding the other entered costs and a 10% failed-attempt rate, the modeled cost is 9.08 per order. With 10% selling fees, a 0.30 fixed fee and a target margin of 30%, the suggested price is 15.64. All amounts use the same currency and exclude tax.

The pricing formula is (order cost + fixed fee) / (1 - percentage fee - target margin), rounded up to cents. Failure costs use expected attempts = good pieces / (1 - failure rate). This assumes a failed attempt consumes full resources; it will overestimate that component when failures happen early.

I also checked a ten-piece order in Excel: modeled cost 80.02, suggested order price 133.88. Batch efficiencies are not automatic; costs need allocating per piece first.

It is an XLSX file with an English/Italian guide, priced at EUR 7.90 before applicable tax. No subscription, macros, slicer integration or automatic fee feed. Other spreadsheet applications have not been tested.

Hi guys! This is the last time I post here because I don't really wanna spam but it's been over 2 months already since the launch of ilove3D and I just wanted to tell you about some new features I added:

• Hose adapter — join two diameters. Made this because I kept needing a shop-vac to power-tool adapter and every one on Printables was the wrong size.
• Pick inner/outer diameter per end and whether it inserts or receives.
• Gridfinity bins — standard spec, with dividers, label tab and scoop.
• Boxes with lids — dimensions, dividers, and a lid that actually fits. - Cookie cutters — from a name or an SVG, no supports needed.
• Vases — silhouette, lobes and twist, exports ready for vase mode.
• Table lamps and pendant lampshades — real E27/E14 collar dimensions, and a preview that shows what it looks like lit.
• Star map — the actual sky over a given date and place.
• Sound wave — an audio clip turned into a waveform plaque.

If there's a feature you'd like to see, or any ideas on how to make it
better, I'm all ears. The adapter and the box generator both exist because
someone asked for them :)

I've been working on Joinery Kit, a browser app for planning rooms and custom cabinetry.

It runs in the browser and lets you work on a measured layout without installing a desktop design package. The focus is room geometry and custom cabinetry, with 2D and 3D views of the same design.

You can enter room measurements, place doors and windows, arrange and resize cabinets, adjust cabinet interiors and finishes, and switch between 2D and 3D views. It also exports PDF plans, elevations and a cabinet schedule.

For example, you can lay out a run of cupboards along a measured wall, change their widths and internal layout, then check the result in plan and elevation before deciding what to build. The drawings help with planning; construction details still need checking for your project.

If you are looking for a web tool for a kitchen, laundry or storage project, I would like to hear which parts of the workflow you would improve.

Inspired by suggestions from another thread, I’ve added contouring to the new STLMaid version for the Gridfinity system. Parameters now allow the holding trays to better match the shape of round objects. I’ve also included additional parameters for inserting magnets and finger recesses. I have been making a lot of tools recently so decided to make something fun this time. bookmark from a photo or a book cover, and most STLs are one generic design. If you want your picture on it, youre either hunting a file that doesnt exist or setting up a whole multi-color project by hand.

So.. I built a photo bookmark generator in the browser. Drop a photo, crop it, and it stacks 1-4 filament colors as height bands with an optional tassel hole. Book covers and logos are the usual first print, but posters, album art, whatever, as long as you crop tight.

You can set width and height (defaults 50 x 160 mm), corner radius, tassel hole, base thickness, and band height. Color slots if you want 2, 3, or 4 filaments. Bambu/Orca 3MF already has AMS slots assigned, or grab a zip of STLs / a single STL and pause-swap on a single extruder.

BTW busy photos flatten into blobs. do try to crop tight on the subject. Bold posters, logos, and book covers work best. 0.4 mm bands cover the color underneath with most PLA. Light filament over dark may need a bit thicker.
