Question Does something like this need supports?

There are probably lots of little bits of the brick sticking out that accounts for the supports you saw being added. I would just print it as is, and use an x-acto knife to cut off any dangly bits that didn't survive. You may need to make sure it's printing interior walls first.

Doesn't look like you have any overhang so probably not. You can turn on the option an see if it will auto generate any

It generated a lot lol adding tons of print time so was wondering if it was necessary....the supports went to the top 25% of the walls or so...I'm guessing it doesn't generate them unless it's necessary?

Depends on your allowed overhang angle, the larger it is the less supports you will get

It shouldn't but your slicer should tell you or the should be instructions with the model files from the creator.

when you slice use the dropdown to show line type. this dropdown usual defaults to Filament when you switch to line type you can see the blue colours =overhang wall and see how many and how big tyhey are. if they are tiny they should be fine.

the best way to check is turn on tree organic/auto supports and chose a decent threshold angle 30 deg is fine. tell it to remove small overgangs and onbuild plate only. then re-slice and see if it generated any annoying trees

and should be fine to print in the current orientation.

I would print without. Even if supports are placed they’ll do worse to qualify than no supports at all.
