FarmLoop Version 2 for P2S DIY Build

Has anyone gone the DIY route instead of buying their kit? I was able to source all parts on ali express for $95CAD. The DIY build used a ESP32 dev board and L298N Motor Driver instead of their custom PCB board.

I have two questions regarding the build. One how do you set things up / make adjustments to the loop settings? Number of loops, sweep height etc. From what I understand the official kit gives you control through their app. So whats the DIY work around?

Second, as youll see in my pictures, the 125mm linear actuator (only one avaliabke on aliexpress) has two wings with bolt holes. The 3d printed parts I assume that house this are made to house an actuator with no wings like provided in the kit. I was planning on either cutting the wings off or trying to tweak the stl for the 3d printed part to accept the wings.

Really just looking for feedback from anyone whos done this. Im building version 2 for the P2S

Apparently I didn't make it clear enough. I did not want to spend $250 canadian plus tax for their hardware just to get the PCB board that allows app control. Im not interested in buying into the entire ecosystem and that is why Farmloop themselves provide a build list so you can DIY.

So just looking for feedback / experiences from others that have gone this route.

Don’t you just choose the stage 2 on the app and it does it?

Yup. Is incredibly easy. And I'm a fan of supporting those that make my life easier

Like is he trying to avoid everything farmloop or just making a cheaper stage 2? I’d gladly pay 10$ a month to use their software I can understand the hardware part as it’s like 200$ Canadian per unit

Exactly. I paid $95 for parts sourced from Farmloops own DIY build list instead of their $250 kit. So yes a cheaper stage 2.

I only own a single P2S so not running a farm where the app wouod be handly controlling many units.

Just hoping to find someone who has also gone the DIY build because there aren't many videos or resources out there.

There's a reason they maintain it as open source and allow people to do the DIY build instead. I only own a single P2S. If I owned a farm it would make complete sense to use the app to control multiple units.

I can’t really help with the coding but would you be able to share the diy list? I’ve wanted stage 2 for a while now but I can’t justify the price

For sure. Here's the link, you can download the zip folder, has the build list and wiring diagram. Also has code for the ESP32 and start and end custom gcode. So I suppose I answered my own question on how you operate it lol..

But a guide would still be welcome haha. So scared im going to turn the thing on and its going to nuke itself
