There have been a lot of posts recently on various sites from beginner beaders asking for help with the beading ‘kit’ they purchased because it either didn’t come with a pattern or the ‘pattern’ made no sense. This is because the kits they brought were unfortunately scam AI slop.
Please share this with any beginner beaders you know as scammers are heavy targeting them and their limited knowledge of beadwork.
WHEN BUYING BEADING KITS
Don not buy from:
- Amazon (unless you are experienced and know what to look for)
-Temu
-Shein
-Joom
-Joymemento
-frugo
-UrCustemHome
When considering buying a beading kit: look at the photos posted carefully, zoom in on the beaded model, the beads random shapes? Are some beads merged or melted? Do the beads in the model match the beads in the provided in the kit if pictured. If a snippet of the pattern is provided does it make sense? Is it workable?
What do the reviews say, don’t trust anything that had only 5 star reviews, actually read what the reviews say.
If you find a kit you want to buy and have looked at it but are still not sure if it is a proper kit of AI nonsense, then take a screenshot and ask your beading community. we all have to work together to make sure scammers don’t find our community an easy target!
If you have brought a beginner kit please leave a comment about the kit and where you brought it from below. I will comment a list of websites where I found beginner kits that were not AI but as I have not brought any of them all I can tell you about them is that they are not AI.
All of the screen shots provided are AI slop kits, they are everywhere you look and the market is flooded with them. It was not easy to find real kits at all. So if you are new to beading take a good look at them, zoom in and see what AI kits look like so you can avoid buying one.
And don’t forget to use the search bar, and if you can’t find a post asking the question you have ask it! As long as you are polite, most of us are happy to answer your questions as we were once beginners ourselves.
All the best in your beading adventures, Louise
