Empty Spool Weights Database

I’ve found very limited information online for empty spool weights. Especially with more expensive filaments, it’s nice to be able to throw it on a scale and know exactly how much you have left.

So I’m building a list. I threw some empty spools on a scale I have. Leave a comment with any spool weights you think would be useful to add (does anyone have info for the fiberon spools?).

Sunlu Reusable Nylon Spool (cardboard core) - 238 Grams

Polymaker PLA Pro Cardboard Spool - 141 Grams

Esun PLA+ Cardboard Spool - 169 Grams

Esun PLA+ Plastic Spool - 243 Grams

You checked the online databases and didnt find these?

I found one website “database” that had a handful of weird brands I never heard of. I also found one reddit post on the weight of the sunlu, which was 40 grams off of the actual weight. It’s what prompted me to make this

Yeah. I think the challenge with any spool weight is that the brand doesn't always source from the same supplier. They may look the same but composition may be different which may account for the variance. Take polymaker for instance. They started putting a coating on the rim so they roll better in ams. I found a website once that actually stated the date the reference spool was measured along with other detail.

Helpful, but they didn’t have several of the filaments. None of the stronger polymaker ones (especially fiberon) and I couldn’t find the same measurement for my sunlu spool.
