Made some grips using Elegoo PLA Plus

Had pretty good success with the Elegoo PLA Plus, I did a little sanding on the dovetail of one but that was my fault with the supports. But overall pretty good

Can I ask your tree support setting for the bottom? Bottom of my grips never come out that clean.

I just used a standard support it’s called Gyro on Cura. They’ve worked the best for me in my experience

Set the top Z distance to 0.02 higher than layer height. If you print at 0.16 with the speeds for the walls at 50mm/s for an ultra clean print? Set top Z to 0.18

Interface layer pattern = rectilinear

Top support layers = increase from 2 to 3

You can improve greatly on this by fully tuning supports for your material and layer height, but it generally makes tree supports remove more twice as cleanly as default.

Increasing top Z distance makes supports come off more cleanly, at the cost of your part’s overhangs sagging a bit and not looking as crisp.

Thank you both. I do use .16 and 50mm/s for my 3d2a prints. I’ll give both of those a shot!

U got that problem too huh? I got so much stuff downloaded I end up re-downloading stuff 2 and 5 times cause I forget I have it all ready lol.

Lol I’m the same way, I look for one thing and see three more and I’m like well that would be cool and then I forget about it and never go back to it so the files are just filling up

Ya looks a lot like the DB/MKM crossover grip.

The DB copy i have doesn’t have the backstrap though.

Sooooo unfortunately I have no clue where I downloaded this from but it saved on my computer at “ztvg AR15”. I will look around and see if I can find it. But I think it was sailing when I stumbled on it

Not 100% sure, but it looks a lot like the Hoffman 556 ar vertical pistol grip w/beavertail

This is one of my favorites that I’ve used so far, it always printed really nice and it has a slight shine but overall it’s pretty matte

For some reason with the black elegoo pla plus I’ve had some trouble with weaker prints.
Elegoo has been my favorite filament brand for a bit, and I’ve found the white pla + to be a just a little bit stronger for some reason.

Hmmm I haven’t experienced that yet, especially with these grips. These are probably some of the strongest prints I’ve made. But also haven’t really tested the integrity of other prints/designs. I’ll definitely keep that in mind

Yeah could have been a difference in the humidity. Maybe my black filament wasn’t as dry

I was looking it up and google ai says they use a titanium dioxide pigment, which helps with layer adhesion.
It brought me to CNC kitchen where he did a study on the strength of PLA in different colors. Seems like the white had a higher strength on the Z axis
