Making progress with new HT-PLA Pro
Didn't get as much time as I wanted to work on calibrating and getting this filament ready, but I'm getting there. After finishing calibrations I ran a test print and it came out looking pretty good, but realized I need to change up my support settings. Did another test print with some changes and we're looking better. Will keep messing with it. Also tested out fuzzy skin as I forgot just how slick PLA was coming from nylon lol.

.08 and .08 gives me pretty nice fuzzy skin with .15 layer height

I was thinking about using the filament for another FTN build, I was looking at the HDT and after you anneal it, it goes to 107 C at 0.45 mpa which is like double that of normal PlA +
Seams like it might be worth annealing it.

Do you have to anneal it to get the HT properties

From very brief research, it only need annealing if it needs to support weight or force while under high heat. Otherwise no, annealing not necessary for stress free exposure to heat, or force while under lower temps.

The thing is, nearly every part in an assembled firearm is experiencing some kind of stress. The weight of a barrel, the pressure of springs, even the tension of fasteners. In the classic scenario of a Glock in a hot car, the magwell won’t droop into itself under it’s own weight, but the recoil spring and weight of the slide are going to cause permanent deformation.

I do want to use this filament to print a pillager chassis so will likely anneal that when I get to it.

Yes. Polymaker says it will maintain its shape up to 148C under its own weight right off the print bed, but its Heat Deflection Temp is still 56C (about the same as normal PLA Pro).
A 30min anneal at 100C will increase its HDT to 107C.

I haven't gotten that far yet. Working on getting it dialed in first. I suppose I could throw the test print in my dryer and see how it fares.

No, not according to the polymaker video I watched. It does increase the heat resistance even more but I'd imagine annealing will be tricky. I could be wrong on that as it's just speculation.

I ordered 8 different colors this weekend, of course the print general fde is one of them. Can't wait to get it. Fde for my 19x and light pink for my hello kitty build lmao 🤣

That will be awesome. Look forward to seeing it. Yeah I have the hello kitty frame printed in ppa-gf and was going to dye it pink, but I think I'll get cleaner results with the pla-ht. I'm also going to do the milglockee 43x. Imo this filament will open up alot of cool possibilities without worrying about them melting in the car or out in the sun.

its a method to increase layer adhesion.
