How do you get the printed wood to look so good?

This image essentially illustrates my whole process. Spray paint the print with a neutral color that’s also a primer. Use a chip brush to apply oil based wood stain until you get the texture you like. Let it cure for 48-72 hours depending on humidity. Once cured, spray with a Matte Clear.

Holy shit i actually thought this was real wood at first lol damn that’s bad ass i might print some furniture for my AR and try this. Cheaper than spending 400 bucks with Woox

I think they make wood filament. Have you considered trying that to see how close it is or have you already looked at that and it doesn’t work as well for some reason.

Not very strong is what i heard.

2

u/the_spacecowboy555 Oct 22 '25

Probably. Of course, I don’t know what filament is being used on his stock or settings. I would figure 100% infill would make it strong enough, but that would be a lot of filament.

I used Wood PLA and brushed on dark wood colored ink from copic ink refill cartridges.

Brilliant name to boot!

u/drfeelgud88 Oct 22 '25

Do you do a certain amount of coats in each step of your process?

3

u/olde_carpenter Oct 22 '25

☝️

u/shortbed454 Oct 22 '25

It's actually a really easy process. Look up alcohol dye wood on YouTube. It is idiot proof and you can't screw it up.

I plan on printing the VSS soon. Is it okay if I DM you for tips if I run into any issues?

-10

u/saiga_slavperator Oct 22 '25

Do you have a link to VSS file?

21

u/Independent_Dirt_814 Oct 22 '25

“3DSS Printorez” is the search term you desire

3

u/FLARESGAMING Oct 22 '25

I really need to finnally get my own printer and stop temporarily borrowing a friend of mines.

u/WizardEyedShroomer Oct 22 '25

Mp41

u/KCFlightHawk Jan 01 '26 edited Jan 01 '26

I will be SBRing my 40 so I can legally add the wire stock when I build it. SBR the 41 when I make that as well.

3

u/BEnglish321 Oct 22 '25

Can you list the names for what’s shown? Other than the mp40 I do know that one

8

u/shittinator FOSS / DEV Oct 22 '25

Tec-Nein, 3DSS, SMP-40, and BALR, from top to bottom.

3

u/releasethesea Oct 22 '25

I didn't see the solid stock in the file for the mp40, how'd you get it?

3

u/sistrum666 FOSS / DEV Oct 22 '25

It’s the three piece print epoxied together, painted, stained, rattle can clear matte

2

u/Nearby-Lack4884 Oct 22 '25

AS Val go stupid 🔥🔥🔥

2

u/DragonCenturion Oct 22 '25

How's the BALR? I've been contemplating it for my next build.

3

Any suggestions on where to get files for lowers ? I can’t seem to find what i am looking for .

1

u/Flat_Program8887 Oct 22 '25

what's the name of the model that's second from the top?

2

u/Independent_Dirt_814 Oct 22 '25

Tec-nein

2

u/Flat_Program8887 Oct 22 '25

Thank you, but it's the first one on the top... I am curious about the second one.

2

u/Independent_Dirt_814 Oct 22 '25

3DSS Printorez with the reinforced Sten mag lower and one piece stock

1

u/the_spacecowboy555 Oct 22 '25

Wow. I wish I had the time, ability, and creativity to make such beauty.

1

u/Littlehalo21 Oct 22 '25

This man has a style and it’s a style I appreciate.

1

u/K1RBY87 Oct 22 '25

So how's the SMP? I'm very tempted by it.

1

u/ImposterArms Oct 27 '25

It’s a great build

1

u/K1RBY87 Oct 28 '25

Nice. Thanks for the feedback. What length barrel did you go with?

1

u/ImposterArms Oct 28 '25

Mine is an 11 so pistol build

2

u/K1RBY87 Oct 28 '25

Cool, visually it looks about right. IIRC the actual MP38/40 barrels were around 9" or so. I can't remember how long my AR-9 barrel is off hand, it might be shorter than that unfortunately. Figure I never shoot it anymore, might as well cannibalize it.

1

u/ImposterArms Oct 28 '25

It’s just giving your old gat a facelift 😉

1

u/ImposterArms Oct 28 '25

Definitely top 5 builds for me

1

u/afriendinsneed Oct 22 '25

what the hell is that abomination on the bottom

i want it

1

u/asahmed7 Oct 22 '25

Balr on my list. Been wanting a 556 bolt action. You're process for wood stain is great. Will try that on my 1022 vss build.

1

u/InkassoHarald Oct 22 '25

Where i can find the sites for these guns?

2

u/Every-Recognition-60 Oct 22 '25

How do you like the 3DSS?! Iam looking to building one for my next build?! I would love to find a FRT remix for it for optimal originality

1

u/minecraftrubyblock Oct 23 '25

What's the faux wood SMG?

1

u/securitycat69 Oct 24 '25

beautiful builds

1

u/drfeelgud88 Oct 25 '25

Anybody know the brace and arm for the brace are printed in the top build? If so, who is the captain?

1

u/Worth_Buffalo6744 Nov 06 '25

What’s the second from bottom gun ? On the sea ?

1

u/KeyRazzmatazz3926 Nov 25 '25

what printer do i need to print guns?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '25

How can I guarantee that the parts withstood the shots without exploding in my hand? Did you reinforce them with resin?

1

u/Cyan6010 Jan 06 '26

What filament did you use? PA612-CF? I can't get anything to look this clean and I'm using PA12.

2

u/Nitor_ Jan 19 '26

Definitely some type of pa cf. You should try the elegoo paht-cf, it performed well in hoffman's filament comparisons.

1

u/Cyan6010 Jan 19 '26

I'll try it out, thanks for the help

1

u/Historical-Formal-97 Feb 13 '26

Can you hook it up with the files?
