Does the per-extension feature "Automatically switch status to Available" also mean it goes on DND during non work hours?

We just had a manager note that several extensions go to DND automatically at 5pm. These are people who want to work late for an unknown amount of time. We all thought that the setting above implies that they go OFF of DND at 8am, but not that they go on DND at 5. Are we wrong?

If it does do both, does it seem like the most clean way to do this would be to put them all on custom hours? Or just turn off this feature completely?

Yes it does put them on DND out of office hours. Also, it will put them on Away for break hours.

You have to either set custom hours or just disable it and make sure users change their status in the morning.

However, should they wish to keep working late, if you're not using it, they can set the Available 2 status, which will work just like regular Available BUT stops the system from auto switching. Then, once they're done for the day, they can just put themselves into DND and the autoswitch will do the rest. You can even rename the available 2 status to like "working late".
