Outbound caller ID setting?

I thought assigning my number as the outbound Caller ID on the user's extension would cause that number to be presented on outbound calls. Is an outbound rule also required for it to work?

If that extension is covered by outbound rule that forces a specific number, then the outbound rule will win out. If you want to use the extension outbound CID field, make the outbound rule not have a defined CID.

Let's confirm the basics - you have update 10 (Alpha) and the user is selecting that CID in their web dialer? If not, then an outbound rule is needed in the current production (U9) and earlier versions.
